According to GM there are 3 components in the RCDLR or RKE remote keyless entry system. My key fobs with new batteries only work standing right next to the car. The range of the key fob dropped at that the same time my TPMS tire pressure monitoring system repair warning came on my dashboard. The problem is that there are 4 different components on the 2015 Malibu. I will provide the GM part numbers for these, if you please tell me where they are and also how to replace them: #13583559 Remote Control Door Lock Receiver #13502554 Antenna #13502551 Ignition Lock Key Transmitter Antenna #13502549 Low Frequency Console Antenna
Could not find specifics for the 2013, but earlier caravans have the remote keyless receiver (RKE) built into the functions of the Body Control Module (BCM) which is located behind/part of the passenger compartment fuse box ... located under the dash down to the left.
The remote control door lock receiver (RCDLR) is a multifunction module that operates both the keyless entry system as well as the TPM system. When an RF message is received from a keyless entry transmitter, the RCDLR interprets this signal and will request via serial data that the body control module (BCM) perform the specific function, i.e. door lock, door unlock, or vehicle locate.
Remote Control Door Lock Receiver (RCDLR)
In the right rear quarter panel behind the interior trim panel
immobilizer control module under the dash.some vechicles if you replace key remote dealership has to reprogram remotes using diagnostic equipment.try this techinique to synchronize remote transmitter. stand within 5 feet from vechicle .press transmitter lock and unlock buttons simultaneously for 7 seconds . system will lock and unlock doors confirming synchronization. if this dont help dealership has to reprogram remotes.
All Remote Keyless Entry Modules may be programmed to receive four different
transmitters which all may be used to operate the remote control lock system on the
vehicle.
Also, severalvehicles, each with the same system may all be programmed
to operate from the same transmitter or four different transmitters.
Step 1. Turn ignition off
Step 2. Ground the program pin.(within one second, Lock, Unlock and
Trunk will cycle to indicate module ready for programming.)
**the
program pin is the two wire connector plugged into the RKE reciever in
the trunk of the vehicle at the Left Wheelhouse. Leave the main harness
plugged in but unhook the two wire connector and ground the pins.**
Step 3. Press and hold the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons until:
Lock, Unlock, Trunk, and Horn cycles to indicate the transmitter has successfully been programmed. (This takes no more then 12 seconds)
Step 4. Repeat step 3 for the remaining number of transmitters
Step 5. Remove the ground from the program pin.
Step 6. Verify proper operation of the transmitters.
Keep in mind that 97-99 can be programmed by the owner, 00+ require DEALER programming with the scantool.
I hope helps with this (remember rated this help) Good luck.
That depends if the car originally was equipped with the receiver for the keyless system. If so, you can buy the remotes from a dealer for about 99 dollars each. If the car does NOT hve the keyless receiver, the remotes will not work. What I would do is take the car to a dealer, their techs can look to see if the receiver isinstalled under the dash.
Using a fused jumper short between terminal G and terminal A on the ALDL plug.
The receiver will then cycle the door locks within one to three seconds this is saying that the reciever is in program mode.
Press any button on the remote once the locks should cycle to acknowledge the transmission has been received.
Thats it remove the fused jumper lead.
you have now finished programming the receiver.
Enjoy
