It could be the multi-funtion switch (turn signal switch) when you pull the T/S handle toward the steering wheel the lights come on. Something may be stuck in that area try wiggling the lever.

If the lights don't turn off with the new switch they are getting power from another source which probably means the power wire has a bare spot and is drawing from another power wire that is live all time. This is most likely to be happening under the hood. You'll have to start tracing wires from the headloghts back. Hope this helps.

1980 buick riviera headlights and running lights wontb turn on turn signals work and brake lights work can you trouble shoot me please

The fact that both are out points to the headlight switch or connector. There's a separate fuse for tail lights but the head and park (front) lights are powered by a fuse link that controls a lot of other stuff you would notice. Reach under the dash and put your hand on the light switch, feel for the wires then feel the other side of the switch for a small button then pull the switch all the way on, depress the button and pull the switch knob and shaft the rest of the way out, now remove the special screw and the switch. I hope this helps. Take care. If you need more help from me use the testimonial button and it will show up in my email.

Have only head lights no other lights work need line diagram of lighting circuit

The headlight gear seldom is bad. the problem is the arm on the motor and/or the connector rollers inside the motor. Replacement kits are on Ebay that fix both.
The lights not working sounds like a bad headlight switch. Riviera used the same switch so they are not to bad to find.

Headlight is out on passenger side of 1998 buick riviera. It will sometimes blink when I hit it. The whole assembly seems loose. The side light cornering lamp works. The wiring all looks secure.

Yep sounds like you need a new headlight bulb The flashing is the tungsten fillament inside of the bulb breifly contacting the broken halves together when hitting it..Replace the bulb and all should be good. Note some times the light may stay on ,, this is because the broken halves arc welt themselves and break again upon cooling after you turn lights off ...good luck
