2003 Chevy Suburban 1500 LT, the driver power seat bottom will operate front/back but not up/down. Is this a switch problem or a motor problem? Thanks.

Does your Escalade have memory seats ?
There are 2 options of power seat systems available in full size trucks. The 6 way driver and passenger power seats, and 8 way driver and passenger power seats with driver memory. For the driver memory seat operation refer to Memory Seats Description and Operation . Power seats without memory are completely controlled through the power seat switch. Battery voltage is supplied to the power seat switch through the power seat circuit breaker. While the seat adjuster switches are in an inactive state the switch contacts are closed to the power seat switch ground circuit. When a power seat switch is pressed to an active state the switch contact is closed to the battery voltage supply circuit. Each seat adjuster motor is controlled by the power seat switch through 2 motor control circuits. The seat adjuster motors are bidirectional and the direction of adjuster motor rotation is determined by which of the adjuster motor control circuits is switched to battery voltage while the other remains grounded.

Make sure there are no obstructions under the seat. Check the switch first. If the other functions are working then the power circuit is OK. I have a feeling its the motor. Best way to check the system is to unbolt the seat from the floor and lean it back to gain access for testing. It could be a broken cable or pivot points frozen also. But I still feel its the motor. This is a system that is generally not used often and the motors have a tendency to stick. While holding the switch down tap on the motor with a hammer to see if it starts working.
wen u say clicking that could mean that ur window motor is operating on command, therefore tellin us that ur regulator assembly has probably gone bad. very common fault... wen removing ur door panel an inspecting look for small steel cables layn around an mayb moving slightly wen pushing switch window switch.these regulators r easy to replace evrything hooked to it unbolts an bolts back on.... good luck hope this was helpful
If you have no power seats or heated seats. I would wiggle a connector under the drivers seat near the rear left while trying to toggle the switch. The power where doesn't contact well and will have to be jumpered across the circuit
its a tweeter. tweeters make the higher pitched noises mainly treble. minimal to no bass. I would replace it your sound quallity will improve. shouldnt cost too much if you do it yourself.
there may be a software issue, there is a reprogram for seat heater issues. Bulletin 05-08-50-008 may pertain to that, a AC DELCO Shop or the dealer can ck that and see if this bulletin applies.
If the seat is not moving forward or backward, but you do hear a click or a motorsound- chances are that you dropped in some change or other debris may be blockling the way. You might also have blown a fuse - look for fuse no. 30, which is a 30 Amp fuse.
Once you've checked all that and if the motor still does not run, then the problem may be with your wiring.
Wire colors between the switch panel and motor are:
• Fore/aft-Tan and Lt Green
• Front up/down-Dark Green and Dark Blue
• Rear up/down-Yellow and Light Blue
• Recline up/down motor's Blue and Light Green
it can only be 2 things, either the switch is bad or the motor in the transmission is bad, both parts are a common failure so u must test each to determine which is at fault, do u have a 12 volt test light? if not get one, about $6 from any parts store like Kragen, Autozone and others, raise the seat as high as possible and disconnect the motor that is inop, (be careful not to break the connector locks) push the switch to operate that motor in one direction (up for this test), the test light should light, then move the test light to the other terminal of the connector and press the switch for down, again the test light should light, if the lights go on as described then the motor is the problem and if they don't the switch is the problem.
