There was a recall a while back ago for this problem. Check with your local dealer and see if the recall is still active. The problem is the circuit board on the wiper motor assemble where the wire harness connects. The solder the plastic clip on the board breaks and will cause this problem and at worst the wipers don't work at all. If you good with soldering, it's a simple fix by just re-soldering the wire harness clip back on and if you like you can buy the replacement circuit board at Auto Zone. The will have the step by step instructions for you to get the job done, a light tap will once and a while fix the problem but you may loose the whole function of the wipers. Good luck.

Hi,

I just had the exact same problem and fixed it myself without buying any parts. I removed the Wiper Pulse Module (also called the wiper motor cover because that's also what it does.) Under the plastic vented air dam is the Wiper Motor. Three screws on the top of the motor plastic cap allow you to remove it, then unplug it from the wiring harness. Do it in this order to reveal the plug catches without breaking them. Then, flip over the cap to reveal a printed circuit board. With a small screwdriver, remove the circuit board from the plastic cap and inspect. Look carefully at one of the large resistors (Black with silver stripe) mine was snapped in two. Also, inspect both sides of the board for burned circuit paths on the surface (there was one very small disconnect path on the back of the board.)

Remove the broken resistor and replace (I believe that it is a zero ohm type resistor) or, you may solder to two pieces back together and cover with some shrink tube. Reinstall the resistor. If you have any disconnected circuit paths on the board, you may solder a small wire jumper across the break to complete the circuit. Reassemble the board with the plastic cap and reinstall the cap onto the motor and plug it in. I recommend testing the setup before reinstalling the wiper arms and air vent. You will be able to here whether it works or not. The whole thing took about two hours to find and fix. The retail price of a circuit board is $130.00, the cheapest is about $84.00.

This is not too terribly difficult if you can use a solder gun and will save you some bucks.

Where is blower fan relay located

Doesn't it work in any speed ? Could have Blower Motor Control Processor if yours has automatic HVAC .
Or if manual it has blower motor resistor . Both are located under passenger side dash . Remove insulator panel under the dash if it has one !

Hi, it seems that there may be a bad ground point somewhere on our 2002 Chevy Silverado. The gas light comes on the goes off, the winshield wipers work only on high, and the dash lights do not work at all....

It sounds like 3 separate problems to me. As for the gas light... I assume this is the low fuel light? Don't know. Probably a sensor problem in the tank itself. The wipers will either be the switch or the little circuit board under the cover on the wiper motor, and the instrument cluster is also probably as simple as the fuse, or it will be the switch itself. ( the part that dims the dash lights)

2001 silverado ext cab wipers don,t work anymore.is there a fuse for motor or is it internal in motor?

Find where the motor is, turn it on and tap the body of the motor. These systems have a circuit board that will give you this kind of problem. I would also check the fuse, it is external, check under the dash board on the driver's side.Good luck

Heater/ac switch speeds 1 and 2 don not work in 99 Silverado

you need a resister found under your air duct by the passenger floor under dash board auto zone sells these for about 25.00 you may as well buy cabin air filters while your at it . 1 of the screws will be a pain to install back into the duct work I left mine out didn,t make a difference . you might have to order it as they are a comman item oh you will need a vacuum to clean up mess from cabin air filters .this is not a hard job .

99 chevy silverado 1500 running lights.....

Remove the fuse! The fuse box under the hood has the DRL (daytime running light) fuse. The underside of its lid should tell you which one. Either that, or just remove the bulbs from their sockets.
If ALL the lights (head, tail, dash, etc. are coming on all the time), then those aren't DRL's. There's a light sensor (little round black dome) on top of the dashboad in the middle front nearest the windshield. They sometimes fall down inside the dash (where it's dark!) and this triggers all the lights to come on when the ignition is on.
