This is a common problem. to repair, the radio must be removed. if you are handy with electronics repair, you can remove the faceplate and circuit boards and solder in new lights, other wise take the radio to an electronics repair shop, usually around $100 repair i believe.

it sounds like either you need to pull radio and reconect outside of vehicle on different power source or replace check for power at fuses first.
