I unlocked the boot with the remote of my 06 VW Jetta then closed the boot leaving the key on the seal (ie inside the boot). The whole car is locked is there another way of getting in apart from smashing the window? and will I be able to open the boot from the interior? It's public holidays till Tuesday which means I can't get my car to the dealership before then, even if I get it towed. My husband and I only have one car. we have 2 kids and they need their car seats.
You may be able to open the vehicle using a coat hanger or similar object to push the lock/unlock button. Once you've gained access to the inside of the vehicle, you can push the trunk unlock button on the dash or floor (can't remember which) and it will release the trunk lock so you can retrieve your keys.
You may be able to get a remote from another similar car and use the instructions in your owner's manual to "marry" the new remote to your car's system, then unlock it vehicle with it.
Most of the remote lock/unlock systems are not specific to a certain remote, so there are tons of aftermarket replacement options for the remotes for them.
After doing more research on the topic, I have discovered that the security system on your vehicle does in fact allow the keys to be locked inside, and if they're in the trunk, even if you gained access to the passenger compartment, you would not be able to get the keys from the trunk.
It seems as though people who have had similar issues have had to call VW's roadside assistance to help gain entry to the vehicle. I don't believe there is an end-user solution to the issue, since the trunk release is disabled when you "break" into the vehicle.
The best end-user option I have been able to locate (by a VW service technician) was to gain entry to the vehicle, disconnect the battery, then force the center rear armrest open, and "fish" inside the trunk for the release latch (child safety device) to open the trunk. After you open the trunk, retrieve your keys, shut the trunk, reconnect the battery, then lock and unlock the vehicle using the remote keyless entry feature.
Sorry I could not provide further assistance.

The door seal is that tight on the door that it's impossible to manoveure a long device to have that affect, we also tried to pull the lever to open the door, no luck. Also from further research I've done the back seats are locked until the car is unlocked with a key, so no chance of getting the keys out of the boot anyways. We can not find the spare key anywhere, hoping it will be in the console in the car. Can't believe that there is no way to get into the car - what if kids were locked in side? Oh and the windscreen will be about $1500 to replace if we smash it for entry as it has rain sensors on it. Unbelievable.
