95 civic over heating and idling rough

I have a 95 Honda Civic Ex V-Tech and its quickly over heating.There is no leaking coolant. It Also Idles Weird. when not warmed up it idles at 2000 rpm's then quickly drops to 1000. its does that over and over until its warmed up. Last night it over headed for the first time so i changed the thermostat but it still over heats and now the rough idling is even worse, it use to stop when it warmed up but now it doesnt stop

Check you oil and your antifreese mine just did this to me and it didnt smell like cooland but i was loosing coolant throug the motor but not onto the ground and my idle did the same thing yours is doing i am willing to bet its the headgasket

After 14 years I think it would be reasonable to have bad catalytic converter. Is there some reason your not accepting this?

Air filter, ECU, O2 sensor, bad EGR valve, or clogged cat converter.

Onboard diagnostic computer should be throwing codes. Autozone can check these free (as will other part stores).

When my civic is idling it goes up to 1500 revs then drops back to 800 revs and continues to go up and down like this even when the motor is up to temp

Hi, have you looked for a vacuum leak around engine you should be able to hear a hissing sound if you have a vacuum leak. If no vacuum leak, try unplugging your idle air valve,if it idles down to normal replace or take off and clean very good. If i can help you more just re post

What could make my 03 civic ex overheat and cool down then overheat again while losing heat inside??? Already replaced radiator, water pump, thermostat.... motor

your heater has apparently restricted the coolant flow....hopefully a good system back flushing will cure the problem....use a flush obtained from a parts house....I would buy the hose kit for flushing as well...good luck to you

94 Honda Civic DX idles low/rough at a stop

Check for split hose's around the inlet manifold.Sounds like a vacuum leak.

88 honda civic DX; idles rough and then dies.

you need to FILTER the air coming in the intake with something screen or something zip ty some screen and paper towel .then give it an oil change and clean the plugs(do this first).
