Well, sounds like the heater core is bad for one, ive had a couple with the same problem, first thing is to have a block test done ,this will tell if exhaust is entering the cooling system, this is caused from overheating the motor, causing a warped head or blown head gsaket even crack the head, that is what pops the heatercore to much preasure for the plastic heatercore, if thats the case make sure the car is worth it,start there with the test, may have to have a garage do this test, hope this helps.
Check all of your hoses going into the radiator. squeeze the rubber ones to check for leaks when the cooling system is full. if there are no leaks than it may be just simply a hose going to the heater core. the hoses for the heater core are run from the radiator back behind the motor and into the firewall. your heater core is located on the other side of the firewall underneath the dash of the car. if you have had the car so hot that it stalled out than u have a warped head and a blown head gasket. P.S. dont use orange coolant because it has been known to eat at headgaskets.
Testimonial: "Thank you very much for the help! Luckily for me, the head gasket hasn't blown, and the heads are alright. Turned out to be a bad heater core."
Will the heater core still be the problem if my gauges heats up while idle instead of when its driving?

So a warped head or blown head gasket could be why the car is not even starting? The car has been running for a couple weeks, but i've been keeping fluid in it. Today was the first time it wouldnt start.
