The flasher itself is located underneath the dash near where the steering column passes through the firewall

i would check the bulbs first. then continue to the brake switch

are you talking about the flaher relay most are mounted on the drivers side on the firewall just below the fuse panel it is a small metal cylinder about 1 inch around and about 1 1/2 inches deep some may be square best way to tell is turn on signal and feel it you should feel if not hear ticking on both r al signals if not working only one side will tick
