It sound like the blower wheel of the blower motor is rubbing the inside of the housing (the smoke). Sounds like the blower wheel rubbing may have burned the inner plastic housing or has come off of the motor shaft inside. Take the blower motor and wheel back out and inspect everything closely I think you will find the problem.
You have to check all associated fuses and relays then check power at the blower motor resistor located under the hood on the passengers side on the heater a/c plenum against the firewall under the rear coolant hose going into the back of intake. ..do the tap test and see if blower cones on
Well there could be a number of reasons why the heater/ac isnt working lets start with the blower moter fuse, then after that check wiring to the blower motor & the connections at the blower motor itself.Check to see that you have 12 volts post back if you have any more questions
VECHICLE WITHOUT AC YOU REMOVE THE RIGHT FRONT INNER FENDER PANEL. REMOVE THE NUTS AND SCREWS SECURING THE BLOWER AND AIR INLET ASSEMBLY TO THE COWL.THEN YOU CAN REMOVE BLOWER MOTOR ASSEMBLY. VECHICLE WITH AC YOU SUPPORT THE HOOD AND REMOVE THE EXTENSION AND PLATE ASSEMBLY FROM THE HOOD HINGE.THEN REMOVE THE HEATER BLOWER MOTOR ASSEMBLY FROM THE FIREWALL..
Most likely cause is a blower motor resister, you will need to know if it is a 2 or 4 hole blower moter resister. If that don't fix the problem then change out the blower motor.
there is a module that controls the motor located arend the blower moter that will need to be replaced. Not sure if this is available other than dealer. check with auto parts stores first. I would ask for blower motor control module. If this helps please reply and good luck
For 4.0L, inside the engine compartment, on the passenger side firewall, remove the coolant overflow bottle retaining strap remove the coolant overflow bottle and bracket. Unplug the blower motor. Remove the 3 blower motor bolts.Remove the blower motor.Remove the blower motor fan from the motor shaft for access to the motor attaching nuts. For the V-8, you just need to unbolt the blower motor to remove.
