My Ford Tauras 2001 DOHC has the PARKING BRAKE

It comes out the bottom

Is your parking brake fully dis-engaged? It could be a wheel braring, too. Raise that tire off the ground and spin it and shake it. If you have any noticeable play or wobble, check the wheel bearings

Try putting the car in reverse and forward back and forth..Give just a little acceleration,,while doing this..Sometimes this will let it break free

check brake fluid for brake light on,if not that check the plunger next to brake handle to see if stuck

this means there is a problem in the brake system of the car and u should seek service from a dealer or qualified brake shop. here is a copied section of your owners manual about the light.

Brake system warning
Momentarily illuminates when the
ignition is turned to the RUN
position to ensure the circuit is
functional. Also illuminates if the
parking brake is engaged. If the
brake warning lamp does not illuminate at these times, or remains on
after releasing the parking brake, seek service immediately.
One of the following conditions may exist:
² low brake fluid level in the reservoir.
² Brake force distribution system failure. The ABS light will also
illuminate if this condition is present.

Sounds like the parking brake is seized on.
Hardest part is geting the rear drums off to do the repair.

wether foot e-brake or handle there is a sensor that maybe stuck... look around rachet gears either way for a sensor with wires going to it. while brake is released try pulling out on sensor . if this works either replace or dont use till inspection. Good luck

check the parking brakes and the brake light switch on top of the brake pedal to see if it is sticking or need to be replace for the brake light staying on

will try new lineings and see if it goes away Jerry

make sure your brake light are working propelly because the cruise circuit is atached to the brake lights and if they don't work then the cruise wpn't either
