I have a 2008 Chev Tahoe with a push button dome light switch. For some reason, when I open the door, the dome light does not turn on despite the fact that the switch is on. When I turn the knob clockwise to the end, it illuminates so I know the light works. Any suggestions?

Have you pressed the dome light cut-off switch by mistake ? Look for a tab rocker switch beside the headlight switch on the daash that has your fog lights on one flap and dome on the other.. open the door and press the switch both ways... maybe your just in "no-dome" mode ...
Turn the little button in headlight switch that controls your dash lights,, size around as a pencil, center, i belive it will pop in and out too for adjustment, push it,,, if that dont work ,, then posibley one of your door activators has came loose and pushed in not letting it cut the dome off
the door switch has a single wire to it ,when the door is closed the switch moves back and stops the wire touching earth to switch the light off , when door is opened the switch moves forward and allows the wire to contact metal earth of the switch hence closing the circuit to bring lights on , remove switch and clean with a solvent the switch must be bolted to the body to create earth when testing
the actuator for the dome light is actually located inside the lock mechanism. Have you checked to make sure the dome light override button is in the out position?
Find where the switch button contacts the door and using hot glue or double-sided foam tape, glue a penny to the door contact spot. That should push the switch button a little more. If no help, try the same thing on the passenger door. Hope that helps.
