a fuel filter will never cause a no start, to see if you have no fuel causing this get a can of spray starter fluid from the parts store and spray it into the air intake hose to the engine, if the truck starts you need a new fuel pump.

Built in the gas tank. It is cleanable. Don't have to buy a new one.

It is built into the pump so if it would have to be replaced then you would have to replace the whole pump. To me thats pretty crappy design.

Crawl under the truck, you should have two or three lines coming off the fuel tank, one will have the filter, one is the return, and one is emissions.

Its actually inside your fuel tank if you do this yourself beware that this procedure is very dangerous because fuel fumes are extremely dangerous! and can ignite easily if sparked

Nissan Frontier 2005 diesel car slows intermittently when accelerating take the foot of and back on the accelerator and it works again any ideas

When was the last time it was serviced? I had this issue on a different car and it turned out to be a 'Very' dirty fuel filter. Bad quality 'cheap' fuel or some types of 'Bio' diesel can cause similar problems.
Lifting your foot lets the fuel pump catch up supplying fuel.
This is also a reasonably cheap fix.

2005 frontier sometimes hard to start I have to step on the gas to start it and runs ruff at first. why is it doing this?

Sounds like a fuel problem. Check fuel pressure and that injectors are not clogged. If you have low fuel pressure, suspect fuel pump or filter. If you have high fuel pressure and good injectors, suspect spark or compression problems.

2005 nissan frontier wont start i have fuel and spark. engine cranks over but no start

Take one of the spark plugs out and let us know what it looks like. Dry and light grayish tan means you have spark but fuel supply problems. Wet spark plug that smells like gas means it is more of a spark issue.

Good Luck

I have an 05 Frontier that recently started surging when at a slow pace in stop and go traffic.

i would check the fuel filter and spark plugs. fuel filter usually goes bad in these newer vehicles.

Electrical problem

If the spark plugs are burning all the time it means youe getting too much fuel to the engine, check your fuel filter and replace if needed.

If you engine is a 2.4 liter it's on the passenger side center of the engine compartment, the hoses from the fuel filter conncts to the throttle assembly . You may have to remove the air filter housing to see it. It is a round canister hoses held on with fuel line clamps. hope this helps
