My 2002 Pontiac Grand Am will not start. I have a new battery (only 2 wks young), I have replaced the ignition module (including all spark plugs etc). The fuel system was tested as good. My starter does engage. So what could be the problem? My security light shows now when I try to start it? Could it be security related?
When it don't start leave the key in for 15 to 30 mins and try to start the car.. if the security light is on you'll have to wait for the security light stop blink. turn the key until you are about to start all light will come on and leave it there 15 30 mins
If it is a security issue a code will be stored. Until you check that a code is not stored then all suggestions will be a waste of time.
You really need a diagnostic scanner hooked up to see whats going on.
Your going to have to determine if you have a fuel issue or an ignition issue.
Unless you give us all the work that has been done all we can do is suggest the same things that a mechanic that has it in his shop will. Customers are terrible at not telling the whole story which in the long runs only cost themselves money because time is money.
It takes diagnostic equipment to to even begin to work on this.
It seems that this is a new issue or it got worse since now the car does not start.
Also never unless your postive that you have a security issue bring up the security as being in question. Because you stated that,, the only option you have it to put the car on a scanner again just to begin with.
But no matter what the car is going to end up in the shop again. Noone can make an accurate guess sight unseen unless your willing to gamble on throwing parts on it.

It has been to the mechanic and been on a diagnostic scanner twice. The only thing it came back with is the faulty battery (2 wks ago). My lights come up on the dash, and the starter isn't clicking. It's very frustrating, as it's already been to a mechanic, and my bank book is looking to be in the red if I send the car again.
