Hi i have a 98-99 passat vr5,how does the front bumper come off?

Its fitted by screws and held by assembly.Give proper support to lower side and loosen the screws and bumper should easily come off.

its called the front air dam and is sold seperately,but other than aethetics it does nothing.mine is still missing after 4 years.

If it's the outside air tempreture sensor its under the centre of the front bumper area and visible from underneath with the large plastic undertray removed, the water temreture sensors are on the firewall above the oil filter, there are 2 and one is for the ecu and one the dash tempreture.

REmove front bumper cover and it is all right in front of you its really easy, the bumper needs removing because of a couple of fixings hidden by it.

you have to take off head lights and signals because there is a bumper bolts behind them ,remove engine shield underneed and front tires splash shileds front side bolts ,take off front grill there is a bolts forr bumper too.
and you may need the get your a/c refrigrant **** with recycling machine because condenser and radiator come out togethar so you have to disconnect a/c lines from the condenser to take out radiator. good luck!!
Your car is may overheats for diffrent reason just make sure problem is the radiator or thermostat if its not you still gonna have same problem after at all.

i had same prob but it wasnt hose it was themostat housing. i just change thermostat housing assembly on my 96 passat. It was cracked where i couldnt see till i got it off. cost about 70 bucks at vw dealer(new bolts, seals and housing.). Not a hard job if last owner didnt strip allen heads, grrrrrrr!!!!! I put new back in about 45 min. hope it helps. drove me crazy!!!!!

you need to remove front bumper , remove front into service position , remove aux belts set timing marks up ( you will need to use locking tools ) lock crank and cam shaft remove belt replace belt and tensioners . please note it is also use full to check water pump

there will be 4 bolt and a couple of screws behind the bumper and you will have to do this from under neath the car
