Speedometer stays at zero on occasion skips 2005 mustang Temperature gauge not reading accurately, fuel gauge not working. I know how to replace the fuel sending unit, did that in my other mustang. I don't understand the temperature gauge, maybe a bad thermostat at the same time the speedometer went out. Thanks

2005 FORD MUSTANG--FUEL GAUGE AND SPEEDOMETER DOESN'T WORK--WHAT'S LEAST EXPENSIVE SOLUTION

This is due to a problem with the gears in the speedometer and fuel gauge; there was a manufacturing defect that ford fixed in later years. The cheapest solution is to replace these gauges. I found a local mechanic that knew how to fix it, and did the job for $60. I recommend checking craigslist for a local person, because this is a very common problem.

Sound like the speed sensor is not working right. Located on the drivers side of trans where the speedometer cable plugs in to the speed sensor. One 10mm bolt with clip holds it to trans.

Gauges on 2005 ford mustang not working

If you can solder or know someone who can this is an easy fix. 1st the problem...The Mustang gauges are small DC motors, the motors are going bad. I just completed this on my wifes 2005 Mustang. Go to Ebay and do a search for Mustang stepper motors. They will run you about $8 each. do them all while the cluster is out.I used David Ruberg (www.speedometerrepairguy.com). Pull of the housing around the inst. cluster, take 4 screws out that hold the cluster in place. pop off the connector, take it into the house and solder in the motors. David includes instructions with the order. It took me about 2 hours total.
