Rotors warp badly every 2-3 months

Rotors on 6 cyl '01 LL Bean Subaru Outback Wagon warp badly every 2-3 months. I do live in the mountains but don't ride my brakes. Are there any replacement rotors that won't warp? FYI - at different points, I've had rotors turned (front & back) and all have been replaced at one time or another. Calipers were also replaced once. I've had car since '04 and love everything about it except the extreme shuddering when brakes are applied. Car has about 150k miles on it now and I'd like to keep it for another 150k IF I can get brake problem solved.

Http://www.thepartsbin.com/guides/subaru/outback/brake_rotors.html I would recommend getting a good quality set of pads as well as maybe a set of slotted rotors. The slotted rotors help to dissipate the heat caused from the friction caused from working brakes. Being that you live in the mountains the brake system on your Outback sees more heavy use and therefor heat. It would also help to ensure the rear brakes are properly adjusted if they are out of adjustment then your front brakes may be overworked.

Can a 2001 Subaru Outback take an aftermarket stock clutch or do you have to go with a Subaru clutch only? fighting clutch chatter two clutches in two months after orignal clutch lasted 130k miles?

Get a new clutch kit AND flywheel. Don't turn a flywheel more than once, just like with brake rotors. Any car can use an aftermarket clutch replacement (as long as they fit, of course). If you get a lightened flywheel, you'll enjoy better acceleration and mileage (city driving) as well.

Front brake shimmy

I would try replacing the rotors altogether. If after resurfacing them your getting .010 runout on them in a few days, those rotors are getting soft.
Also, check the rotor mating surfaces, ie, where the rotor touches the hub when installed, and make sure it is clean and smooth. Any rust or brake dust buildup on the hub will prevent the rotor from sitting flush to the hub. I would also recommend replacing the brake pads, if you do the rotors, as the pads could have worn unevenly due to the rotors being warped.
