SOURCE: camshaft position sensor

This V-6 has a very hard to find/hard to reach CKP - it is directly under the Distributor, about 4 inches below, inwards toward the Transaxle "bell". Almost dead-center in the back of the engine.
Your going to have to take the Air Filter and the air manifold that runs to the engine off. After that, take off the horn assembly to gain very, very limited access to wedge an extended ratchet into the bowels of the engine.
I think the same socket that undid the horn assembly fit the CKP nut. It takes 10 minutes to undo the bolt a couple ratchet clicks at a time, at least 15 to get the thing to wiggle out, probably 15 minutes to unconnect, reconnect, and snap back to the fram the wire harness, and at least another 10 minutes to ratchet the bolt back in click by click.

Now you know why they say shops charge $500 in to do this - I think they must take the entire engine out... Very painstaking job that requires patience and precision... but quite satisfying to finish it yourself.

Good luck and hope this helps,

2010 buick enclave...need to know location of camshaft position sensor

I think some people (myself included) are confused between camshaft and crankshaft position sensors. I believe their are 4 camshaft position sensors in 2 banks, I’d like to know all these locations as I have p0014 and p0021 corresponding to both banks of CAM shaft sensors. Where are these locations please? I have 2009 Enclave also.

1994 buick lesabre 3.8 camshaft sensor location

On the 3800 V6, the camshaft position sensor is located behind the water pump pulley. if you were to look at pulley straight on, it is at about the 9 o"clock position. good-day!

I WANT TO CHANGE MY CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR, BUT CAN,T FIND IT?

the crankshaft sensor is located right behind the harmonic balancer mounted on the timing cover-.on the 3.8 , The camshaft position sensor is located behind the water pump pulley on the left side of the engine block. it has a 3 wire connector. you have to remove serpintine belt and water pump pulley to access it.I believe there is ( 4-8mm bolts) to remove. ON THE 3.1 IT IS UNDER POWER STEERING PUMP ON BELT SIDE. REMOVE THE BELT THEN REMOVE AND SET STEERING PUMP TO THE SIDE, BUT DO NOT REMOVE ANY POWER STEERING HOSES FROM IT. have a good day ! if its a differant engine, just repost.

I took my car to my mechanic. He did a diagnostic circuit test on the engine and then replaced the distributer ignition module and camshaft and crankshaft position sensors.

Canshaft sensor location

Hello, the camshaft location on a 3.1 is located under the power steering pump. The crankshaft position sensor is on the back of the block above the transmission, middleways of the motor.

1998 Buick Century 3.1 engine

camshaft position sensor it is located on the engine block on the belt side of the motor there is also a crank position sensor that is located on that same side, that is behind the main belt pulley. basically the computer is sensing that these two sensors are out of sync with each other this is a common problem, and is corrected by replacing the camshaft position sensor in most cases. Otherwise check the connections and wiring to the sensor please rate -jeff
