Check electrical wiring and firing from the distributor cap. Removed sparkplug wire keep it close contact with the saparkplug tip then allow to start and check if there is current running.Removed sparkplug and check if sparkplug are wet or dry, wet sparkplug signifies not functioning or no current at all this has to be replace. Check for the gasoline near the carburator.

I was driving my 1989 honda civic lx. when the oil light flashed couple times.then the car died when i try to crank it sounds like a dead cylinder or jumped time.i checked timing and its good. the second...

I don't want to cause you any worries but here's what I think happened.
When any light flashes on your dash, it means you have a big problem. Did you run your car without checking the oil ? It may have run out of oil. If that is the case , the cylinder , pistons, and rings have been shot.
The second cylinder busted an oil ring. Which means you may have to have the engine overhauled. Or you can also buy a used or new engine. Any way you look at it it's going to cost a good penny to fix it.

Check the compression on all cylinders. I'm betting they have little or no compression. Especially the second cylinder.

Driving down the highway and car died. Have gas yes. Spark? Do you think timing belt or chain broke? How do I find out?

To check timing belt or chain, remove distributer cap and turn engine over. BRING TO TOP DEAD CENTER AND SEE WHERE THE ROTOR IS POINTING, #1 cylinder? IF NOT SPEND ENGINE ONE TURN, pointing at #1? If not then you may have jumped time. Take a scoket that fits the crank and turn the engine by hand. The rotor should start turning right away, the mor you move the engine without movement of the rotor shows slack in chain or belt.
Another possiblity is that you might have a crank sensor gone bad. Check for fire at the spark plugs. Take one out and, while the plug is laid on the engine, spin the engine, it should it should spark. Either way shows that the engine is not firing. Next is to do a compression check, ther should not be more than 10% difference between the cylinder. If no compression, you have an interfearance engine and jumping timing will bend the valve. Hope this helps.

Car running on 3 cylinders, changed spark plugs but still running rough

Do a compression check. You want to check and see if you have good compression across all cylinders or if you've blown you head gasket or rings. If you don't have any check engine light indicating a faulty crank position sensor, or a misfire on a cylinder, you may have fire on the cylinder but if there is no compression or low compression the vehicle will run roughly. If you need directions for doing the compression check or manually checking the Crank position sensor and other sensors that could cause this condition I recommend the Haynes Repair manual on your vehicle. Most major Auto Parts stores carry both Haynes and Chilton's manuals on vehicle. I prefer Haynes but Chilton's will do as well.

Jaguar S Type V8 2000 starting problem

a common problem with the jaguar aj26 v8 engine around that year is low compression due to wear on the nicosil coated bores to get it started you can try removing the fuel pump relay in the boot/trunk fuse box and cranking the engine and keeping the throttle pedal to the floor when it fires get someone to help and put the relay back in has it fires.if not take all the plugs out and put a couple of sqirts of engine oil from a oil can or similar in to each cylinder crank the engine over a little with plugs out refit the plugs and retry

1989 Isuzu I-Mark won't crank over.

The winding noise sounds like it may be that the engine has lost compression. A compression test on all cylinders will determine this. The pressure should be approximately 100 lbs +/- 10% in all cylinders.
