I have a 2003 Montana van with 160K miles. The Van wants to overheat, first occasionally and now quite often, the temp will begin rising, (sometimes it will reach the point where the temp warning lite comes on) the heater will begin to blow cold air. I took out the thermostat and it did the same thing. I flushed it out, still overheats. The first time it overheated was about 5 weeks ago, we put in a new thermostat which seemed to solve the problem, but about a month later it started acting up again.

I am thinking you either have a lower radiator hose collapsing, a water pump problem, or the radiator is corroded. At anytime the van overheats, I would be certain to replace the thermostat. Do you have electric fans, or is the radiator fan driven off the the fan belts? If electric, I would be concerned that they are not operating when the engine temperature is excessive. If powered from the fan belts, have you replaced the fan clutch?

Where is the horn located on a 2003 pontiac montana van? mine needs to be replaced.

It looks like this van gas 2 horns, on each side of the vehicle behind the bumper. Easiest way to get to these would probably be to remove the inner wheel well covers. Try just crawling underneath first to see if you can see them though.

2003 Pontiac Montana antifreeze smell?

Bad News. I recently had the same type of smell ( no leaks or puddles either) coming from my van and had to have the intake manifold gasket replaced due to the Dex-cool issue. It appears GM installed an inadequate/substandard gasket when they built the van. My van only had 65,000 miles on it. There's a Dex-cool settlement you could have applied for but repairs had to be made by May of 2008.

This is the only real complaint I've had with the van.
