battery not good. also sounds like its not charging. good battery should hold charge at 12.6 for good battery. anything lower than that its weak. alternator should charge at 14 v min with the engine running. if voltage drops lower than 11 volts ecu turns off.
Make sure the battery is good. U can charge it and disconnect it from car overnight and see if it works the next day. If it is still fine then the car has a drain. If no good, then the battery is bogus and cannot hold a charge.
U have something in wiring that is draining the battery after shutdown. Need an ammeter. Hook it up to the battery and wait about a half hour. Then notice draw on meter. Start removing fuses until you locate the line that is responsible for the draw. Then check out each and every item on that trunk line.
Hey Rick ,I don't know what you have so it makes it harder to help you ,I don't dough you checked battery and alt . unless you have a dead short the battery should hold a charge , as far as the alt. most have an internal built in regulator , start the vehicle when its running disconnect the battery if it dies its the alt .
you either have'nt recharged as it isn't holding the charge ,or have it connected the wrong way round , which i doubt, have the battery tested for holding charge , if no good the get new battery and check the alternator charge rate as could be low and not charging battery
if battery will not hold a charge then there is an internal short and no good. now if battery is holding a charge but discharges while driving then u either have a short or possible alternator problem
If the battery is not holding charge eventhough that the alternator is in good condition then the problem will be on the battery itself. If the battery is faulty or near it's break point it tends not to hold charge. I strongly suggest that you have it replaced.
Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa! Have a good one!
chk charging noltage at battery posts. should be in 13.6 to14.2.. Is charging good at 13.8. If thar's good, your battery is not.. Your alternator won't last too long with a bad battery. good luck
its the battery. the battery holds the charge and the alternator charges it so when you jump the car it stays running because you alternator is providing power when you shut the car off you have a bad battery that isnt holding the charge needed to start it again.
