On the vortec engines they require 56 pounds of fuel pressure to start a few pounds shy of that you have a dead vortec you will need a fuel pressure guage to verify
check your ecm-ign fuse.if it is ok check to see if you have power to your spider injector.if you have power, you either have a bad computer or a bad connection between the computer and the inj.do you have spark??.if you have no spark check your ign module or bad connection at the ign module.i have seen that before.
Here is the firing order for that vehicle and engine, however, some people can not figure it out (color coding and numbers seem to be too complicated for some) and have given low ratings for this diagram, and I will probably stop giving out this firing order. Let me know if you need help to understand this diagram, or require any further assistance.
spray ether into intake , if it wants to run then you have a fuel problem. if you can rent a timing light, check the timing, it could have jumped, and it will still have spark. also check the plugs for proper gap.
Very good chance that it's bad fuel injectors and/or fuel pressure regulator. Very common with the 96-2000 L29 motor (Vortec 7.4L) Replace with better injectors, the OEM ones are NOT WORTH cleaning. Basically clean up before use like opening the plugs and adjusting the spark gaps, spray some carb cleaner at the intake & if The soud of the engine smoothens even slightly, then add some it to the fuel in the fuel filter & gun the engine a few time. Flush the radiator and fill in frsh coolant/water. Check the level of water in the battery and top up with distilled water. Clean the air filter and check fan belt tightness. After these small maintenace checks it should run OK.......sodeep
is fuel bre injected? what is the actual fuel pressure?
