Probably should check to see if there is power going down threw the small wire on the starter solenoid when the key is turned to the start position, that be a good place to start. Double check the battery cables, make sure they are in good shape, clean and tight. If there is no power to the small wire on the starter solenoid, it may be the starter relay, or even an ignition switch.
Check your battery terminals and battery. If the terminals are corroded or loose then this will happen. If need be, remove the terminals from the battery and clean thoroughly both terminals and terminal clamps. Fit them back on and tighten. Try starting the car, if it starts and all is good, spread vasoline, or some grease over the terminals to prevent it from corroding. If it doesn’t start then the battery will need replacing. If you have a multi meter check the voltage first. Anything under 11.5 volts will not start this car.
Those two code's have nothing to do with it not starting . Viewing wiring diagram for the starter electrical circuit an testing with volt meter is the way to find a fix . Battery voltage from the ignition switch goes through the park neutral position switch to the S terminal on the starter solenoid . no computer controlled starter relay invloved . Checking for battery voltage at the S termial while someone turns the ignition switch to start an voltage drop testing the main B+ cable to the starter .
Starter Voltage Drop
Free wiring diagrams here http://www.bbbind.com/free-tsb Enter vehicle info. year , make , model an engine . Under system click on engine , then under subsystem click on starting .
You mite try moving the gear selector to neutral an seeing if it starts then . Park neutral safety switch could be bad .
Does starter click? Try turning on headlamps and get someone to watch as you try to start car. If headlamps dim, likely bad starter or battery cable(s). If they don't dim, bad solenoid, starter switch, neutral safety switch. Try starting in neutral and jiggle shifter while trying. If it starts, replace neutral safety switch.
There are over 20 reasons why the Kia Sedona computer will not allow this vehicle start. I found two of them to be the nightmare from hell, and diagnosing usually requires the computer hooked up at one of the automotive parts stores or a mechanic coming to you. Unless you have been really paying attention to symptoms, you will need that help first before the repair.
You're describing a no rotation issue and not a no start issue correct? If you dont hear/feel the starter relay clicking, it eliminates everything in the circuit to that point meaning the ignition switch, Transmission Range Sensor (TRS) (you don't have a neutral start switch unless you have a rare manual transmission), ground input from the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) to the starter relay coil, and starter relay are good. Based on what you've said that leaves the primary battery cable from the battery to the starter, and the wire from the starter relay to the starter solenoid contact on the starter. Have you checked their continuity? One more voltage to check at contact 30 (input volts from battery to starter relay contacts) on the starter relay socket. Should see 12vdc all the time.
You should check the battery. The true test is a load test. Does jumping the battery using jumper cables make any difference? If it starts, change the battery. I take it to check the starter you jumpered the solenoid contact on the starter to the battery correct? Have you tried wiggling the battery cables as you turn the key? They can corrode and fail internally. Are the engine and chassy ground connections clean and tight?
have same problem, ratan9 solution is pretty junk and I dont know why waste time posting it. After talking to local shop, to "test" the neutral safety switch, try to start in neutral, try to move shifter "farther" into park and turn key, listen to any clicks possible. If moving to neutral starts it you've got a bad switch. All the searching i've done it's either the safety switch, the ignition switch or a short in the harness somewhere
There are some fusible links mounted with the starter on the cable, check to see if they are burned into, pull on them they will pull apart like taffy. Also, check the neutral safety switch ,try in neutral ,see if it will start.Make sure the negative battery cable is good, this can cause the problem also, see if there is 12 volts on the purple wire on the starter solenoid when starting the engine,if not, check the neutral safety switch,if it is good, replace the ignition switch.
