If you fixed let me know I have the same problem on my slk 99. For your information a MB guru told me that is the ETS/ASR CONTROL MODULE that is attach to the ABS hydraulic unit
no 0205459632. It is very expensive I ordered. I will post results in two weeks.
Have your brake pads and rotors checked if you have worn pads this will activate the ABS Antilock Braking System light. The ETS Electronic Traction System uses this ABS to prevent skidding if the tires should lose traction.

Most likely cause is the 'stop lamp switch'
It is a electric switch located on the brake pedal inside the car, about half way up on the brake pedal.
Pretty cheap too, I think the switch is only like $25 bucks.
2 connectors on the switch and then it turns out.
