Stuck in gear audi A4 1.9TD 1996

Hello, i own a 1996 audi A4 1.9 TD. I was driving for about 200 miles, i came to traffic lights and when i went to move on into 2nd gear i couldn't! it was firmly stuck in first. i could still use the clutch, but couldn't come out of 1st gear. it stayed stuck for about 5 mins. i tried pumping the clutch, turned the car off but no luck. I didn't want to force it out of gear. I was in the middle of a town when this happened, i went to drive 300 meters to park the car and when i pulled up in a prking space it just came loose again so i drove home. yesteday it happened again, 1st gear stuck again, when i reved it up to about 2000 rpm it came loose again and there was no problem for the day. any ideas?

Check engine light came on while driving, now when you accelerate it makes a loud hissing sound and is sluggish. Can I drive it this way for 200 miles to get it home or is there something serious wron

Is this a Turbo model? If so, it sounds like you have a blown Turbo or a leak somewhere in the turbo system. 200 miles is a long way to go with a bad part, and it's pretty risky. I'd get it checked out by a local mechanic before trying to drive that far.

2002 audi a6 Quattro--all transmission gear shift indicator lights on & transmission locked in 3rd gear, started out just once in a while then went out.115,000 mile, like new

It could be something minor like a broken linkage, or something serious like, you need a tranny rebuild. You'll need a reputable shop to troubleshoot.

1996 Audi A4 1.8 auto gets stuck in 3rd gear

Change the transmission fluid ant if that doesn't work then the transmission needs rebuilt or replaced. If you get on craigslist someone might be selling a transmission for cheap or check the salvage yards.

I have audi a3 05 when starting feels like no power or going to stall, esp light comes on and engine managment flickers on after the first run the lights go off????

VW engines intend to do this, even if you pull up at a set of traffic lights it will nearly cut out or go into high rev's. i have an a3 & once driving down the road @ about 50kpm, I lost power stearing for 1-2 seconds, stearing wheel went stiff. Audi are a good drive but needs lots of tlc. One other thing is fuel pump could be acting up a bit.

Vehicle momentarily loses power while driving then resumes

Sounds like an electrical issue maybe the plug from firewall to cab is loose or on computer is loose, sometimes those coonections or pins get loose,i had a new car with 200 miles on it and it went dead in heavy traffic, had to get towed to dealer they found loose connection!!!!With audible noise when happens tells me its wiring, check all connections and wires to connections make sure there not loose!!!Best of Luck to you!!!!!
