Hello.
What sounds like happened is that the instrument cluster fuse sounds like its burnt out. Otherwise the wires on the back of them both may have been knocked out. Very simple fix if its the fuse, if not, pull the cluster out and check the wiring. Hope this helps!

My speedometer quit working it acts like it wants to move but won't. The odometer still works so I'm stumped

Cable in the neck of the column may have snapped off or speed sensor has gone bad.
Before you bring in the car have your alternator checked first.
I had a cable replaced on a caddy I had and it cost $250 to replace.

2006 kia speedometer odometer problems

For everyone having the problem of a dead speedometer and odometer not racking up miles but EVERYTHING else works. I had the same issue and I went on for hours researching to no end. Everyone said if the VSS is reading in a scan tool, the VSS is fine and it's either wiring on your cluster. WRONG. In the scan tool, the vehicle speed is being populated by the ABS wheel speed sensors, it is NOT reading the VSS directly even though it may use those exact words. Remove the hose between the intake and the air box and look down left under a coolant hose on top of the trans, the sensor is right there held in by one 10MM bolt (use a few extensions and a swivel). When I tried to disconnect the plug, the sensor pulled apart in two pieces. The inside where the spring makes contact was green. I pulled the plug out and the female end was green and corroded as well as the 3 prongs on the male end. Advance Auto sells a replacement pigtail for $10, it's only 3 wires (pink (12v+), black (12v-) and orange/green (pulse wire to speedometer in cluster). Splice them in order, install new sensor and BOOM everything worked again. Do not replace your cluster, do not listen to your scan tool, and no the car does not need to be showing a CEL or code if the VSS is bad, trust me. Hours and hours and hours of research it was simply the $70 VSS and a $10 plug end! Worst case if you have a pulse wire issue somewhere between there and the cluster, you can splice in a new wire on the orange/green and run it through the firewall to the back of the cluster. There are 3 plugs in the back, looking at the cluster from the FRONT gauges, the far left plug, top row, 5th wire in from the left is the other end of that orange/green even though it may show as different there. You can jump around and splice in there as well!

2005 kia spectra speedometer and odometer not working, no codes, everything else functions and car drives fine any sugestions on how to troubleshoot.

Sounds like a bad speedometer sensor. Usually located on the transmission. The only way to fix the speedometer/odometer is to replace the sensor.

My speedometer and odometer quit working. I replaced the sensor on the transmision and it didn't fix the problem. By the way, the part cost me $174.00 + tax. That was an employee price sence I used to be a...

The odometer quits working when the speedometer quits working. The most common cause for the speedometer to quit working is the speed sensor in the transmission. You said you replaced it, there is also a transmission speed sensor on your truck that may need to be replaced. I understand your frustration, but there is nothing else that would cause the speedometer to quit except the cable behind the gauges being clogged.

Speedometer works intermittently

It is most likely the speed sensor in the transmission.

Kia Spectra Speedometer not working

Two possible fixes. Replace speed sensor. If this does not fix the problem take it to your Kia dealer. There is a common problem in the wiring inside the engine compartment fuse box. They can fix it with labor only. Usually runs about $200.
