Excess fuel consumption can be caused by a lot of things. One of them is tire pressure. Other things that can cause issues like this are air filter being dirty, bad oxygen sensors, bad air flow sensors, VVT issues on the cam.
A mechanic would use a fuel pressure gauge, you could spray starting fluid or carb cleaner into the throttle body to see if it will start on that. Also check for spark at the plugs.
Make sure the crank pulley is lined up with the top dead center mark. The make sure the crankshaft is lined up with its mark. Its easier if you can line the marks up before you take the old belt and try not to move the crank shaft are cam pulley.
do not i will say it again do not spray starter fluid in to the breather as you will destroy your mass air flow sensor. check or change your crank sensor and your cam sensor.. i have had the same problem and it took me like 3 months to find that out.. i have a 2000 hyundai accent and it it would start from a cold start with no problem but once it warmed up it would stall... besides the crank shaft sensor is one of the cheapest parts you can change ............
Spray some starting fluid in the intake while hold the throttle down. If it starts now then you want to check the fuel pump and filter. Make sure you are getting 12 volts when the key is in the on position. You should also hear a humming sound when you turn the key on. If you have 12 volts at the pump and no humming sound, replace the pump and filter.
If it doesn't start with the starting fluid, then you need to check the plugs. wires and coil pack. You can do this with a test light and probing just before each item.
If it still doesn't start than it is either timing related or a blown head gasket.
IF THE STARTER WON'T CRANK U MAY HAVE A BAD CLUTHC SWITCH.IT IS ON THE CLUTCH PEDAL AND ONLY ALLOWS POWER TO THE STARTER W/CLUTCH PEDAL IS FULLY DEPRESED
