My 1984 cadi eldorado keeps dying or losing power when I first start it up. It does not die when I am driving it. I have just replaced the fuel pump and thought that it would end the problem. Is there anything else that I can do? Thanks

I have an eldorado 1984 barritz 4.1 engine. I am no mechanic but had a similar problem and it ended up being the main head gasket bolts were loose out of spec causing loss of compression and water and oil mix. I did the work myself but it was a fight. the car runs strong and with alot of power.

Ford focus keeps losing power when driving

Does it lose power and die? Does it start cutting out and then lose power? Does it start running poorly when it is cold or only after it warms up? Please give all of the information that you have.

No power when I push the gas

check for plugged exhaust system, dirty air filter, vacuum leaks, those have a mile of vacuum hoses. Also, check for bad fuel pump.

1985 toyota camry unplug mass air flow sensor engine will start plug back in engine dies

There is a switch in the airflow meter that keeps the fuel pump relay closed as long as there is airflow. With the meter unplugged, the pump should not run except when the key is turned to start. It would seem to me that you have a wiring issue. Try jumping the fuel pump relay so the pump runs whenever the key is on. (Remove the relay and jump the pump wire to the accessory wire--see top left diagram.) This defeats the safety feature but will keep the pump running.

Ford 460 loses power then dies. Starts back up. Idles fine.

It sounds like you might have a clogged catalatic converter on the exhaust system.

My intrepid dies while driving

It sounds (based on your description) like there is a Fuel problem:
1. Check the fuel pressure at the port on the Fuel Rail. Check especially when operating at higher RPM's than at idle or stop. At these levels there is enough gas being provided to keep the engine going. At higher RPM's the Pressure/Volume may not be enough causing the stalling.
2. When was the last time the Fuel Filter was changed? Change this and check operation before moving onto to #3.
3. The Fuel Pump. If the Fuel Pressure and Volume at the Fuel Port is falling at higher RPM's and the Fuel Filter did not help: It sounds like the Fuel Pump is failing. These will fail especially after they warm-up. This problem (losing power and dying) will happen more and more frequently and the Fuel Pump will eventually die all together.
You have to replace the Fuel Filter when you install a new Fuel Pump - it is part of the warranty.
4. The Fuel Injectors: If the Fuel Pressure/Volume at the Fuel Rail is fine, then it is not the Fuel Filter or the Fuel Pump. The problem is "downstream". It may be the electrical aspect of the Fuel Injectors or the mechanical side of the Fuel Injectors themselves. Check each Fuel Injector for correct voltage. If the voltage is correct - Pull and replace that corresponding Fuel Injector. I actually recommend: if you have to replace more that one Fuel Injector - go ahead and replace them all.

Replaced fuel pump, then car died on a hill after road trip

Try changing fuel filter. There could be one large one next to tank or inside frame rail.
