That code is for the EGR boost sensor. It has an open or a short in one of the wires.
For one thing the CEL being on all
the time how will you know if something else comes up, short of it
running bad or worse. The EGR serves two functions. It lowers NOx and
allows for greater timing control. If the EGR is not working and the
PCM advances the timing when there's no EGR it can cause excessive
spark knock. If the knock sensor doesn't work it can cause severe
engine damage. If the knock sensor works and the PCM lowers advance the
biggest problem you'll have is polluting.
Hope helped (remember rated this help) Good luck.
Other refer to the code P1195 in most case is set due to the folowing:
Boost sensor solenoid
Boost sensor
Vacuum or vacuum hose problem
Open or shorted wire.
The
repair is as followed, Check for reference voltage of 4.5 - 5v on the
Light Green signal wire, with the sensor unplugged. If there is no
reference voltage with the sensor unplugged check for an open or
shorted wire between the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) and the boost sensor.
Plug the sensor in and see if the voltage drops about 0.5v when plugged
in. If the voltage goes to 0 or does not change at all, the sensor may
be faulty. Tap on the sensor and see if the voltage glitches out. If
so, the sensor may be faulty.
Check the operation of the boost sensor solenoid. Does it have good vacuum to it? If not, check for a plugged port in the intake manifold. See that the solenoid switches vacuum on and off when it is energized.
If not, the solenoid may be faulty. Check the voltage on the boost
sensor as the solenoid is turned on and off with the engine running,
the voltage should read about 1.3 volts with manifold vacuum.
Here is the picture to help you locate the Boost sensor.
Good luck.
I have had this same problem of code 1195. I recently took my car to a mechanic and he said that EGR valve (cost: $350) will have to be replaced. Do I really need to get that replaced? And, will it solve this problem and switch off the check engine light? Thanks
