That code is for the EGR boost sensor. It has an open or a short in one of the wires.

For one thing the CEL being on all the time how will you know if something else comes up, short of it running bad or worse. The EGR serves two functions. It lowers NOx and allows for greater timing control. If the EGR is not working and the PCM advances the timing when there's no EGR it can cause excessive spark knock. If the knock sensor doesn't work it can cause severe engine damage. If the knock sensor works and the PCM lowers advance the biggest problem you'll have is polluting.

Hope helped (remember rated this help) Good luck.

Other refer to the code P1195 in most case is set due to the folowing:
    Boost sensor solenoid
    Boost sensor
    Vacuum or vacuum hose problem
    Open or shorted wire.

    The
repair is as followed, Check for reference voltage of 4.5 - 5v on the
Light Green signal wire, with the sensor unplugged. If there is no
reference voltage with the sensor unplugged check for an open or
shorted wire between the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) and the boost sensor.

Plug the sensor in and see if the voltage drops about 0.5v when plugged
in. If the voltage goes to 0 or does not change at all, the sensor may
be faulty. Tap on the sensor and see if the voltage glitches out. If
so, the sensor may be faulty.

Check the operation of the boost sensor solenoid. Does it have good vacuum to it? If not, check for a plugged port in the intake manifold. See that the solenoid switches vacuum on and off when it is energized.
If not, the solenoid may be faulty. Check the voltage on the boost
sensor as the solenoid is turned on and off with the engine running,
the voltage should read about 1.3 volts with manifold vacuum.

Here is the picture to help you locate the Boost sensor.

    Good luck.

I have had this same problem of code 1195. I recently took my car to a mechanic and he said that EGR valve (cost: $350) will have to be replaced. Do I really need to get that replaced? And, will it solve this problem and switch off the check engine light? Thanks

Turns over wont start

You need to determine whether or not the vehicle is getting spark and fuel. If the check engine light comes on with the key in the foward position the fuel injection system is usually ok. Remove a spark plug wire and install a spark tester in the wire and have someone crank the engine. There should be a good orange/blue colored spark. If spark is ok, you need to access fuel supply. Have a listen at the fuel filler hole with the cap removed. Can you hear the fuel pump when the key is turned on or while cranking engine? Some times banging on the bottom of the fuel tank with your fist while someone cranks the engine may excite a bad fuel pump into starting.

How do a repair a reduce to slow mph on highway

Your ECM (car's brain) has reduced your car to Limp Mode. You'll need a Fault Code Reader and list of fault codes for your vehicle to diagnose the problems. Fault code readers aren't expensive and Haynes makes inexpensive DIY manuals for your vehicle. Could be the EGR, PCV valve, TPS, or Oxygen Sensors. Each of these has a separate fault code... please check a fault code reader and verify the fault against the list in Emission Controls list in the Haynes manual. This will narrow it down for you.

Check engine light on, the code is P0449 on a 2009 chevy treverse need a wiring diagram How to fix it

Hello there

Lots of people seem to get this code.

Electrical diagram is included in the Haynes Manual (which EVERYBODY should have for their car !!) Available here.http://www.haynes.com/products/?searchType=vehicleApplicationSearch2&searchEnd=yes&sfID1=&sfID2=&sfID3=&year=2009&make=Chevrolet&model=Traverse&x=22&y=11

http://engine-codes.com/p0449_chevrolet.html
This says the vent valve/solenoid in the evaporative emission control system.

Something similar here which will be of use to you.

Mazda Protege - 1998 DX 1.5 automatic I got a check engine light ON with P1195 code. What do I need to fix this?

P1195 = EGR (exhaust gas recirculation valve) Boost Sensor Circuit Check the sensor and the wiring/connections to it.

Mazda's also had issues with the vacuum lines to the EGR valve and the ports in the throttle body plugging up! I think some models even had a recall so it may be worth checking with your local Mazda dealer or have your father or you check online for Tech service bulletins and recalls for Mazda!

Hi my chevy venture has always engine check light whenever i start and somthing not right. Any idea to solve this problem? what are the symptons of this problem?

to reset engine warning light simply turn key on without starting slowly depress gas pedal to floor 3 times in about 5seconds wait 15sec then shut off key...this is in the owners manual under engine check warning light.but also may want to have someone plug a obd2 code reader into the plug under center of dash under steerind wheel....code readers cost around $100 at canadian tire or other such part stores..this reader will tell you what trouble codes if any are present in your vehicles computer.hope this helps..

While driving home during 70 mph the car did a bad misfire an then the check engine light came on then the engine just shuts off

Two things:

1. Go get a OBDII/CAN Scanner/Reader and get the error codes that the computer has stored on it. Find out what the computer reporting.

2. Go to your local auto parts store and get a Haynes Manual for your particular vehicle.

The codes should tell you what is being reported. But remember, it will not tell you what the true nature of the issue is with your vehicle. That is what the Haynes Manual is for.

One you find out the codes, let us know by posting them and we will go from there.
