2006 WRX How can I change the security code/immobiliser PIN. Can someone tell me the procedure to change it or send me the documentation. As owners of the vehicle we should be able to change the code ourselves !!!!! I gather its all done via the key pad. Any solutions would be greatly appreciated by thousands of people
Also I hate how on Fixya I have to pick and incorrect "What product is it about" option because mine isnt listed and there is no option to add my product manually.... aaaaargh

you should already have a wire shunt in the main harness for the tach. all you need is the sending unit and the gauge. the sending unit goes in a port on top of the transmission next to the engin bloc. the dealer ship will have the schematic for your specific vehicle and the right sending unit............please rate this

Do you have a manual boost controller (mbc) installed? I have a 96 WRX and had the same problem and so took out the MBC. It now runs sweet. If you don't have one check the vacuum hoses from the turbo to the wastegate and also to the boost control solenoid, make sure they are tightened with cable ties or a hose clamp. Also could be your spark plugs make sure you have iridium ones, they out perform any others.
SOURCE: jump starting a car with an immobiliser
use another vehicle and start by connecting the jump leads from the negative on one battery to the negative on the other and do the same with the positive, the positive is the one with the cross or the red wires. dont worry if u get a little spark when connecting the jump leads its perfically normal, then simply start the other vehicle up and leave it running for aruond 5 minuates then try starting your can.(you may need to rev the other car up a bit to raise the power being transfered) be very careful not to put the jump leads on the wrong terminals.
i hope this advice helps u,
can you please rate this advice

Actually you should always hook the positive leads first. Positive from the "donor" car to the positive terminal on the "patient" car. Then attach a negative lead from the donor car's negative terminal to the CHASSIS or MOTOR BODY of the patient car. This is vital to prevent a surge which could possibly spike your vehicles ECU. Start the donor car first, and always be sure to put a little load on the patient car, for example turn the headllights on, before attempting to start it. If you follow these instructions you can not go wrong.
