No it's not an interference engine, but what you need to check is the cylinder head due to you said it over heated, which will cause wrap head, Remove spark plugs crank engine and see if water come's out of spark plug hole's , if water come out you'll need to replace head gasket and have cylinder head machine. Good luck hope this was helpful.

Is a 2003 Dodge Neon 2.0L an interference engine

Your 2.0L is an interference engine. Since this engine is "SOHC" the timing belt will be easier than the larger 2.4L DOHC engine. When you are ready to perform the repair, please consider buying the timing belt kit. It includes a new water-pump and belt tensioner. If you have any other questions, feel free to write back. Please let me know how the repair goes, good luck.

The serpentine belt keeps squealing/heater not hot.

Your water pump may be sticking. With the belt off, check all the pulleys for freedom. Sometimes idler bearings fail. When was the system cleaned?

1992 subaru legacy 2.2 liter overheating and no heat. already replaced waterpump, thermastat, radiator and hoses

You mean the car is running fine but just No Heat?
If so
-Sound like the heater hoses are plug. or the control valve is no function

-Check the heater control valve and flush the heater unit with water of garden hose from both directions.
Q: How do I know that is working or not?
A: Slide the heater control from Hot to cold or cold to hot and check it turn or not. (If not turn at all. The cable is broken or slip off)

Water pump barring went out on my 1997 rav4. I heard it knocked the pistons into the values? Is that possible?

The water pump is driven by the cam belt and on some vehicles with an interference engine if the water pump failed and cause the cam belt to break then it could cause internal engine damage. Your 1997 Rav4 water pump is driven by the cam belt but is not an interference engine. So, not to worry as no damage has been done. Just replace the water pump and cam belt and all should be well.

TIMMING BELT IS THE ENGINE INTERFERANCE?

Hi:
Yes, this engine isn an interference engine, and your valves will get ruined if your timing belt breaks. It is money well spent to replace it , and don't forget to have the water pump and tensioner replaced at the same time!

When should a get the timing belt replaced?

It is critical that you replace the cam belt at 90,000 miles on the 4 cylinder and V6. Both engines are interference engines and as such if the belt breaks serious engine damage will occur. The water pump is also driven by the cam belt so to save labor costs later on have the water pump replaced at the same time you replace the cam belt. Have the cooling system flushed, thermostat replaced, and a fresh supply of a 50/50 mix of antifreeze and distilled water installed. You will be good to go for another 90,000 miles.

Should I change timing belt/water pump

Your 1997 Toyota with the 3.4 L V6 is an interference engine. This means if the belt breaks serious engine damage will occur. The belt must be replaced at 90,000 miles or 10 years under normal conditions and 60,000 under severe conditions. So, you need to have the belt replaced immediately as you are over the maximum of the belt's life. I would not drive this vehicle anywhere except to a trusted mechanic to have the belt replaced. The same belt that drives the cam also drives the water pump. In order to replace the water pump the cam belt must be removed. For that reason and the fact that the pump will not last 180,000 miles I highly recommend you have the water pump replaced at the same time as the cam belt. This will save you on labor cost later on when the pump would fail. Plus it might save more if the engine overheats. As you are going to replace the water pump this is a great time to drain and flush the cooling system and replace the thermostat which may or may not have been done in the past. You also will need to replace the spark plugs if that has never been done. Remember this is an INTERFERENCE engine. Keep driving the vehicle without replacing the belt and you are driving a time bomb that can explode at any time. Hope this is helpful to you.

WHEN DOES THE TIMING BELT FOR A 2004 HONDA ACCORD GET REPLACED?

It depends on the engine. The 4 cylinder engine uses a timing chain, and is generally replaced every 150,000 miles (Honda doesn't give a specific interval) with the water pump (driven off of the timing chain) and timing gears. On the V6 engine, you have a regular rubber/steel belt, and it is supposed to be replaced every 105,000 miles, according to Honda. The water pump is driven off the belt as well, and should be inspected or replaced. (I recommend replacing the water pump anyway, just to save yourself any future trouble)

How to change water pump on a honda civic year 1999 lx

These water pumps are integral with the timing belt you must replace the timing belt with the water pump because the leaking water pump and antifreeze on the timing belt causes deterioration of rubber belt thereby causing imminent failure of timing belt destroying valves $$$ google" interference engine" for an explanation of interference engine
