look at all the things that the fan belt / serpentine belt wraps around...the one that has the big *** hose coming off it, and goes to your radiator will be your water pump
Loosen the tensioner for the accessory belt for the alternator and remove the belt. Remove the two long bolts that are holding the alternator in the bracket. (Sometimes you have to remove the tensioner arm completely or just loosen it and it will slide over to relieve tension on belt) Full article: http://www.ehow.com/how-does_4829335_removing-alternator-pontiac-sunfire.html
I don't see the question. But you'll need a socket set, water pump, gasket, sealant. Also new timing belt. If it's in the way. I would recommend letting an expert do the timing belt change.
Hello. In 1997 the Sunfire used 2 different engines. A 2.4 overhead cam or a 2.2 overhead valve engine. Both use a timing chain setup. Hope this helps you along. Best of the season to you.
My Wife Has a 01 Sunfire and if your is anything like hers. there's a plastic guard that sits on top it has aprox. 8 pull pins holding it in holding it down. Remove those pins and then there's 2 bolts on top side right behind the headlight remove those bolts then the whole light comes out.
