I have a 98 maxima gle/gxe srs light

I have a 98 maxima gle/gxe that has the srs light on and does not blink. I just changed the driver side seat airbag along with the sensor that lies under and behind the seat belt. What are the possible symptoms regarding this situaition.

Toyota Echo 2003 SRS light with ABS light blinking instead of Seat Belt Light

When you sit in the seat and put the seat belt on does everything work ok . If so look to the fact that you are required to wear a seat belt and the fact that you are not might be the problem.

INSTRUMENT CLUSTER

It is probably where the seat belt plugs in (Stalk) This will cause both lights as it is part of the SRS (Suplimental Restraint System). Start by looking under the drivers seat at the wire from the seat belt stalk & look for any damage to the wireing. Then check passanger side. It is normaly drivers side cause that is the seat that gets mved most. All SRS plugs should be yellow for identification

Speed sensor location on a Nissan Maxima 2000 gxe

There are two speed sensors one is called a revolution sensor that is located on the case of the transmission. You can take the driver side wheel off and see the sensor on the top of the case of the transmission. A 10mm bolt is holding it in. Easy fix

SRS light

Here's a quick check list for most common cost of SRS / Air bag problem.

Dirty contacts on driver and passenger seat belt buckles

Dirty contacts on seat belt connectors (under seats)

Dirty contacts on driver and passenger sides weight sensors (under seat)

Seat covers

Weight on passenger seat
(Example: grocery package trigger SRS / Air Bag light on the way home.)

I recommend you to pass an vacuum over the contacts and use CRC electronic parts cleaner to rule out connectivity problem.

I DO NOT recommend disconnecting the negative battery connector to clean the code(s).

Without the code(s) the dealer will takes "BILLABLE" time to reproduce the problem.

Installing 16'' Alloy Wheels and Tires on 2002 Nissan Mazxima GLE

Not bad. The stock 215/55R17 & the 215/60R16 that you have are within a couple tenths of an inch in overall diameter which is the key spec for proper systems operations. Your ride will not be as responsive, but softer with not as many impact breaks!!

Every 30,000 miles you need an air filter, every 60,000 a fuel filter, every 100,000 spark plugs. That's it.
