Anti-theft system . Do you have a SECURITY light lit on the instrument cluster ? Does engine turn when you turn key to start position ?

The problem is in the ignition cylinder lock.
The body control module (BCM) is what controls the theft deterrent system on the 2000 Pontiac Sunfire.
It can be reprogrammed, but is complex to do.

the radio theft system is tied into the main theft system of the car in the ECM
you have to have a dealer unlock the radio

no but what you have bad is your remote start brain box that is triggering the anti theft. i suggest taking to a auto electronic place for servicing or stop using remote start.

First thing to do is turning the ignition on and wait till the light go off
than drive to a garage to inspect the ignition switch (faulty anti theft)

Best option is a scan tool or code reader.Alternatively you can disconnect the battery but if you have theft lock on your radio you may need to get the code to reactivate it.

Turn the key on, Leave the key on for 10 minutes until the theft light goes out. Turn the key off. Then it should start the next time you turn the key.
