On the rear calipers you have to turn them in. won.t go in with c clamp. put a little pressure on it and turn.
If it does not push back with a c-clamp,then it will turn to go back in,the right side, and the left side will turn either left,or right hand to go back in,depending on witch side you are working on.
If they are disc brakes take the old brake pad and a large C clamp and SLOWLY tighten against the piston untill it is FLUSH with the housing. go slow and use the old brake pad to push against the piston and act as a buffer between the C clamp and the piston.

some of this brake caliper, have to be turned and push at same time in order to push the cylinder in.
go to autozone and they have a loan tool program that will allow you to loan the tool for a deposit and then you will get it back when tool returned

If it is a disc brake with the park brake connected to the brake caliper the piston in the caliper will need to be rotated back into the caliper bore. there are special; tools for this but sometimes a multi position wrench can be used. If when rotating the piston starts to move out of the caliper stop straight away and reverse rotation before the piston comes out causing loss of fluid and air entering .
