Replaced starter with brand new one. cranks over just fine. When i drive the car up to temperature for atleast ten minutes and shut it off, it will start immediately once i shut it off, But if i let it heat soak for atleast 5 minutes, i will attempt to start it, but all i get is the relay click and the solenoid click, no crank condition. The relay is getting 12v, i've tried bypassing the relay with 12v, and it will only click.
once the car cools down, it will start fine. If i bypass the relay with 12v when it is cold, it will start. The heat shield is in place below the exhaust manifold. Is there an after market heat shield or anything to install to prevent the starter from getting hot and not starting?
