2000 Saab 9-3 Viggen Logo
Anonymous Posted on Nov 28, 2009

I have a 2000 saab 9-3SE. When the motor heats up the speedometer quits working, the ABS light and brake light comes on and stays on. Also the winter light comes on and stays on. What could be the problem?

2000 dodge durango abs and brake ligth comes on after driving for a minute

The brake and abs light come on if a problem is detected. When the abs light is on the abs is NOT working. You need to pull the codes from the ecm to detect the problem

Volvo abs lights stays on

Usually the ABS computer knows what it is doing. You may want someone to hookup a scanner to the ABS test port.
When I had my speedometer and odometer act up, it turned out to be a bad alternator. You might want to check yours.

Blown fuses

The problem is simple and you could possibly repair it yourself. the sensor on the brake master cylinder (front side protruding down from the bottom) is shorted out. This sensor turns off the cruise control when the brakes are pushed. You only have to unscrew the old sensor and replace it with the new one. You will notice that the old sensor has has brake fluid all through out it. this is the reason for the short. BTW you will lose a little brake fluid in the process so have the new sensor ready when you take off the old sensor. I know this doesnt sound like it could possibly be the reason but it is. hope it helps

This happend to my car and it was the ABS module that failed. It does not harm your car you just don't have ABS. Try to replace the ABS sensor first since it is a lot less expensive and a lot less work. If that does not do the trick you will most likely have to replace the module itself. That cost big $$. A new one is about 1200-1500. I bought one from a wrecked card for 300 and it has worked fine for years.
