Motor1258. Thanks for help. Son is not heavily mechanically inclined but can follow directions. He has a multi-meter at least. The engine is a 5.2L in a 96 Dodge Dakota.

Checked at coil, no spark. The 12 code, according to Dodge codes, is also no spark at coil.

    Definitely a 1996 Dodge Dakota 5.2L (318 cu. in.).

As far as codes go, I'm thinking you were getting code 12 and code 55, which means (12) that battery was recently disconnected or went dead, and code (55) is the end of message code. I'm also wondering for sure whether you have a 5.2L, or 5.9L. Could you reply with more info like Make, model, year, and double check what engine, just so we get it right for you.

Can't just zip around the block on that one eh Dad? Any luck with engine info yet? By the way, how mechanically inclined is your son, just so I know how to better describe troubleshooting procedures.

How did he determine it was a no spark problem, rather then a no fuel problem?

Did this just happen all of a sudden, and was running fine prior?
Is he familiar with location of the relays, such as shut-down relay?

I have a 1996 dodge intrepid with a diagnostic code 1255. Could someone please tell me what that code means?

If you had two blinking CEL codes, a 12 (pause) and a 55, the code 12 means the battery has been disconnected within the previous 50 starts. The code 55 indicates the end of stored codes. Therefore, you have no saved trouble codes (disconnecting the battery deletes saved trouble codes).

Acceleration struggle and check engine light blinks

Generally a blinking check engine light indicates a cylinder has a misfire. Could be a bad spark plug, spark wire, coil, or injector.

What is code 1255 for?

Hello there, I have a 91 dodge grand caravan and by the looks of it, you used the key on, key off, key on, key off, key on method to get those codes. If so, 12 is one code(number of key ons since last fault)(direct battery input to controller disconnected within last 50 too 100 ignition key ons), And for code 55, its just the completion of faultcode display on the check engine light. So basically, there is nothing to worry about. * *NOTE*-All information came right out of Haynes repair manual for 84-95 Dodge Carvans

Code 1255 for 1996 dodge intrepid

Hi there:
DTC P1255 - Pedal Correlation PDS2 and LPDS Low

It's when there is the wrong voltage between the electric throtlle body, and the electric gas padle assemblys. Either there is something wrong with the throttle body electric motor, the gas padle was disconnected, or there might be something else Im overlooking.

You need to be aware that some diagnostic equipment can put out spurious fault codes which are extremely misleading.

Hope this helps.

1996 dodge dakota 3.9 engine quit running when we do the ignition test it gives us a code of 1255 what would that mean. It will run if we put gas down the carb.

i`m not sure what the code meaning is but if you put gas down the throttle body and it runs then you have a fuel problem which this code may refer to.this year of truck is fuel injected throttle body.it could be a fuse, fuel pump relay, fuel pump, plugged fuel filter, stuck open fuel pressure regulator not building enough pressure, wiring for fuel or pump system or even a computer(ecm) problem.

1996 ford explorer, 5.0 liter just changed plugs and wires, it doesn't have a distributor. Immediately it began running rough, check engine light is on and blinks when accelerating. I've never had this...

Good Evening, I don't remember seeing a p9303 code, but a p303 is a misfire code on cylinder 3, I would tell you to double check your plug wires and definitely make sure #3 is sparking. Also be sure to check the spark plug gap since you just put it in that it is possibly a little off. Hope this helps.

On 1996 dodge grand caravan code 42 from blinks from chedk engine light.

A code 42 is the Auto Shutdown Relay Control Circuit....The ASD relay is located under the hood in the Power Distribution Center next to the battery. Change the ASD relay, that should fix you up. If that doesn't work...you might have to check the PCM. But replacing the ASD relay should do it.

My car died code 1255

that is two codes, niether mean any problem, here are the difinitions,
12 Battery Disconnect Direct Battery input to PCM disconnected within last 50 ignition key-on cycles. Normal if battery has been disconnected, otherwise check battery power and ground connections

A DTC 55 is used to end all DTC messages. This code does not show on the DRB tool and indicates a completion of the stored codes on the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (check engine lamp).
