When your truck cut out your diesels security system engaged usually for older systems if diesel hasnt changed much it would be as simple as bateries disconnect for bout ten minutes reconnect and then prime the system on cold cold mornings if you take off too early without letting your plugs warm before start you burn out the glow plugs no start at all
If you have new disel system reset comp by removing the dtc codes and im sure you might have pulled a code diesels need to warm up before driving

If you have the 6.0 then the filters are located on top on the motor right beside your oil filter and under the drivers side on the fuel pump, check to see if you have diesel in your bowl where the fuel filter is, no diesel in there your fuel pump might be dead, check fuses to fuel pump and check relay on the passengers side kicker panel, check your owners manual

My 84 ford f250 6.9 diesel. Starts and then dies and wont start.

could have a bad fuel transfer pump ( block mounted) or air getting into fuel system. This could be caused by a pin hole in the fuel lines ( supply or return) have someone crank it over for you while you press the shrader valeve on the fuel filter housing , see if you are getting fuel or air. Could also be an injection pump problem. Best thing would be to have it checked by a qualified diesel mechanic, as this could be caused by many different things. Kinda costly to throw parts at it on a guess without proper testing

1998 ford 250 diesel, changed fuel filter and now the truck coughs and chokes like gas is not getting to engine. Does it need to have the gas line bled? If so how?

did you prime the new filter (filling it with diesel) before installing if so youll have to check the pressure regulator on the fuel pump but im leaning toward the filter being reprimed.

7.3 rough idle

Gas or diesel having same problem, I'd start there to confirm fuel pressure . It may be pump running partially when cool, but when it heats up (the pump) it may be cutting out pressure wise. Not uncommon for a fuel pump to pump good when cold, then die once pump heats up from running. Still makes noise, but isn't supplying any or enough pressure.

1994 f350 turbo diesel won't start

Just with what you have said I would say its time to drain and or replace your fuel filters (there are usually 2: a primary and a secondary)

There could be a clog in the fuel filter, kinked lines somewhere (so check the lines make sure they are working) you could have an internal fuel filter leak (so it just returns to the fuel tank) or a fuel leak elsewhere.

By the way, be careful with diesel fuel lines, depending on the fuel pump (mechanical or electric) pressures range from 3,000-25,000 PSI maybe even higher!

Check the lines, and drain or replace fuel filters and let me know what you got.

Hope this helps you out.

1997 ford diesel 7.3 di turbo

Check the glow plug timer relay. This is what determines the length of time your glow plugs stay on. If it is cycling off too soon, you will have this problem.,
