If the oil light is on, Don't drive your car until you've checked the oil level .
The oil light is an indicator that warns you when the oil level has dropped to an unsafe level and will not allow proper oil flow thru the motor because the oil pressure is dropping.

Don't take a chance! Check the oil level. Make sure it's between the full and add 1 quart line. If you don't see anything on the dipstick, it's really low... If you run your car with low oil, you're going to freeze up the motor.

If the oil level is ok and the oil light is still on, have the pressure sender checked to make sure there's proper oil pressure. The light will stay on if there's a problem..

How do i turn off the change oil light after the oil is changed?

You don't need to do anything to turn off the light, it's not a change-oil light, but low-oil level light. Check whether the oil level is according to specification, if it is, then the floating sensor might be broken.

How to get change oil light to go off

Instructions:1) Check the oil. The light is a warning signal that you are low on oil or that the oil is not flowing properly. If the oil level is fine then the issue may be a reset button. Two different methods will allow you to reset the oil light.2) Turn the key to the on position. Do not turn the engine on. Press the accelerator pedal down three times in a five-second period. Turn the engine on. If the oil light goes off you have successfully reset the oil light. If it stays on you need to try the second method.3) Find the fuse box. This should be under the dash in between the steering wheel and the door. Open the fuse box and look for the reset button. Press the button until you hearing a beeping sound. It will beep three times. The oil light should be reset. Turn the engine and see if the oil light goes off. If the oil light stays it still has not been successfully reset.
4) Read the manual. The two methods above are the two most common ways of resetting the oil light. Your car may have additional options to try. If none of the methods resets the oil light then there is a different problem such as a non-functioning oil sensor. At this point you need to see a mechanic.

Blinking oil light on 2003 Mazda Protege. Changed oil and oil filter as well as oil sensor. Light still blinks when the car is idled up.

You need to reset your change oil warning light. To do this, turn the ignition key to on but do not turn over the engine. Then rapidly push down the gas pedal three times. This will reset the system and turn off the blinking light. Then when you drive another 3000 miles, that light will once again tell you it is time to have your oil changed. J.

Tundra 2007 - turn off "maintenance required" light

Oil Change Reminder Lamp: Service and Repair
Engine Oil Replacement Reminder Light
This light acts as a reminder to replace the engine oil.
This light will come on when the ignition key is turned to "ON" and will go off after about a few seconds.
When you drive for about 7200 km (4500 miles) after the engine oil replacement, this light illuminates for about 3 seconds and then flashes for about
12 seconds with the ignition key turned to the "ON" position. If you continue driving without replacing the engine oil, and if the distance driven
exceeds 8000 km(5000 miles), the light will come on. The light will remain on thereafter.
If the light is flashing, we recommend that you replace the engine oil at an early opportunity depending on the driving and road conditions. If the light
comes on, replace it as soon as possible.
Resetting the system
The system must be reset after the engine oil replacement. Reset the system by the following procedure:
1. Turn the ignition key to the "OFF" position with the odometer reading shown.
2. Turn the ignition key to the "ON" position while holding down the "TRIP METER" reset button.
Hold down the knob for atleast 5 seconds. The odometer indicates "000000" and the light goes off.
If the system fails to reset, the light will continue flashing.
