95 ga runs rough

map sensor has a low speed air passage in it, in this passage is a temp sensitive diode, this controls idle fuel mixture it would be unwise to drive with this disconnected as connection also has main air flow circuit which may damage other components if it'll run at speed at all

P0068 on a 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 SLT. Rough "hunting" for idle. Momentary lag/loss of power from a stop. Random RPM changes while at a constant speed. Sometimes it feels like it drops out of gear...

P0068 Symptoms - Engine Light ON (or Service Engine Soon Warning Light)
- Lack/Loss of power
- Engine rough idle Possible causes - Large vacuum leak
- Leaking air duct system
- Mass Air Flow (MAF) poor electrcial connection
- Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) poor electrcial connection
- Faulty Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor
- Faulty Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor
- TP sensor not seated properly.
- Faulty Throttle Position (TP) sensor.
- Dirty throttle body
When is the code detected? The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) monitors operation rationality check by comparing sensed throttle position to mass air flow readings
P0068 DODGE Description The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) monitors a vehicle operation rationality check by comparing Throttle Position (TP) to Mass Air Flow (MAF) readings. If, during a self-test, the comparison of the TP sensor and MAF sensor readings are not consistent with the calibrated load values, the test fails and a diagnostic trouble code is stored in continuous memory.

My 2004 toyota tacoma has a rough idling problems and I was told to replace MAP sensor. Now, would it be Mass air flow sensor ? Because I can not locate any info on MAP sensor of this yeat truck

Yes your truck is equipped with a mass airflow sensor (MAF). However, I would not just replace that because its running rough. I would begin diagnostics by first checking to see if there were any trouble codes in the engine to give you a clue as to the rough running condition. I would expect a trouble code to be present to support the descision to replace the MAF Sensor. If no codes are present I would suggest that you get the vehicle tuned up. (Spark plug replacement and throttle body cleaning and I would also suggest removing the idle control valve and cleaning the carbon and dirt out of it. Although what you were told might be correct I dont belive that is where I would start.

96 eclipse non-turbo idles way too high, disconnect MAP sensor it goes down but then idles rough

Yes by disconneting the map sensor will drop idle and make run rough, the problem is the idle air control valve or a vacuum leak, try to clean the throtlebody with an old tooth brush and some throtlebody spray cleaner if that doesnt help then try having the iac valve checked the iac valve (Idle air control valve ) if with the engine running listen for a hissing noise that will be a vacuum leak, these are the most common reasons for higher than normal idle. hope this is helpful.

Repair a4 audi 2004, mass air flow sensor, catalitic converter, car stalls when accelerate.

hi this might not be the MAF but the MAP sensor as this is the thing that normally gives you this sort of fault, the MAF adjusts the air and fuel mix but the MAP adjusts the air and fuel mix and also the timing via the ECM , normally if it is the MAF it will just idle rough and still run as normal, but jerky and bogs down but does not stall, so if anything i would opt for the MAP sensor first before the MAF...hope this helps

I recently took my Toyota Camry into the shop to have them replace a oil pump cover gasket and now that it is put back together it runs really rough while idling only (it will rev up and then almost stall)...

it actually sounds like a vacuum or intake leak or the map sensor start the car and unplug the map sensor wire set. motor should have steady idle after that. if not then start checking and unpluging the idle air control valve or the throttle position sensor the only sensro the car will not run with unplugged is the mass air flow sensor

Rough idling

Hello! Rough idle and perhaps poor acceleration are, for the most part, caused by a defective MAP (mass air flow sensor). This device, in part, is responsible for fuel flow regulation. This component fails when screen becomes fouled. To locate this device follow the exit hose out of the air cleaner box. The MAP sensor is connected between filter exit hose and throttle body hose. It is a black tube with a screen element inside and has a plug connected to it's side.

The average cost at a auto parts store is $85+$45 (core charge); The core charge is refunded when you bring back the defective part.

It is possible, at times, to clean the screen. However you'll need to purchase the proper cleaner. Radio Shack has a product called "Deox it; catalog # 64-4338. This product sells for around $15 (included is a gold contact cleaner). It is designed to clean electrical parts without leaving a residue.

Disconnect both hose clamps, and plug; carefully remove the sensor, clean and replace. Also , at this time, change the air filter, check hoses for any splits, holes or cracks. If this does not work purchase a new MAP and install.
