This is sometimes called the lurch, disconnect the battery for 30 mins to re-set the "memory" in the gearbox, this should solve your problem, the gearbox will re-learn your driving style. Make sure you have your radio code before you disconnect.

Its known as the ''lurch'' its one of the biggest problems with the jaguar 6 spd box. The only cure (and its not always succesful) is to have the gearbox programe reinstalled/updated with the last ''fix'' released by jaguar on their WDS system. Along with this fault you may also experience the ''roll out bang'' this is where you slowdown at a junction so you are just rolling then you apply the throttle and the engine revs up and the gearbox suddenly engages - it feels like some one has tail-ended you ! Again some success with this fault has been found by installing the update, although the jag dealers always try to tell you there is a probable fault with the box!
Try to get your dealer to update it for free. THEY KNOW ALL ABOUT IT !
Also search ''the lurch'' on the web and see the history involved with this problem from owners all over !

2005 Jaguar S Type. How to turn off or stop alarm on it?

It is a regulatory safety device. You need to fix the Emergency Brake, not find a way around defeating it.

Can not back up or even push it backwards in neutral running or not.

The right rear brake on my Granddaughters car was so worn that the pad jammed when turning backwards stopping any backwards motion. When going forward it did not jam and could be pushed or driven forward. Tell everyone that if you hear scraping noises when applying brakes to get them checked right away.

Hand brake wont switch of

Call the Jaguar Dealership about your problem. Jaguar issued a TSB about electric brakes applying and not releasing.

You should be covered for free. . Another problem was transmission engaging reverse when accelerating away from a stop.

This is a safety concern and can cause an accident and injuries in both cases. Your dealer can resolve these problems with anupdated programming to the cars ECU .

PARKING BRAKE FAULT IN S TYPE 2005 JAGUAR. WHAT WILL SOLVE THIS PROBLEM?

If the brake will not release or not apply, try the following (making sure you have a fully charged battery) Disconnect battery for 10 mins ( make sure you have your radio code available- this will need to be entered after battery reconnected to use you radio) when battery reconnected follow instructions on your dash board message centre. If this fixes your problem the the fault was caused by low battery voltage. If the fault remains you have a problem with the brake module or motor. If the brake shows no fault messages but you still have a problem it could be a mechanical problem with the brake assembly which will need inspection. Hope this was of help - good luck.

Sometimes upon braking to full stop, there is a thud maybe coming from the rearof the 2005 Jaguar S Type. Any suggestions?

Brakes may be sticking a bit. Do you have 4-wheel disk or drums in the back? This is more common in drum brakes that are not self-adjusting properly. If you have drum brakes, check to see if the drums are snug to the hub. If not, adjust to snug. If you have disk, check the parking brake adjustment (does it pull up far to lock?). If you need instructions, let me know and I'll try to look them up for you.

S type jaguar parking brake warning that brake cannot be applied

Do you mean 'parking brake fault' This message can sometimes appear with low battery causing the electronic park brake to lose its calibration.
To recalibrate it disconnect your battery and leave for 10 Min's. then reconnect and with the ignition on apply the foot brake and whilst keeping applied switch the parking brake on. then release the foot brake turn ignition off - on and the handbrake fault message should be gone and the parking brake should release as you drive off.
IMPORTANT - make sure you have you radio code as you will need this after a battery disconnect.

hope this helps - good luck
