2005 Jaguar X-type diesel estate - brake lights stuck on

2005 Jaguar X-type diesel estate - the brake lights are on all the time. My garage has adjusted the brake light switch, then changed it; and lubricated the pedal. The lights go out if I hook my foot under the pedal and pull it up, but come on again next time I go over a bump. Any ideas??

It sounds the switch has not been adjusted correctly the way is to start the engine then hold the brake pedal on with the new switch unlocked

SOURCE: jaguar x type washer failure

it is more likely the wiper switch has bad contacts or the washer pump is defective, go to the pump and have someone hold wash and check for a 12 volt sigal at the washer fluid pump, if no siganl replace the wiper/washer switch, and if u do have the signal at the pump then the pump is defective.

SOURCE: Jaguar 2005 X-type estate towbar electric connector.

The Jaguar doesn't have a towbar connector as such, there is a dedicated towbar wiring kit available, this plugs into the lamp connectors and has a towing module incorporated into the kit.It also has a small connector that plugs in to a spare connector in the loom for cutting off the parking sensors when you plug in your trailer. If you are in the UK then check on the NTTA website for a towvbar supplier that can either send one out or is local to you.

SOURCE: 2005 jaguar xtype how do i adjust headlights

If I am understanding your post, I believe you do have a levelling
system and it should be near your light switch on the dash. It is
the type of switch that you depress first, it then springs out and
you turn the small knob (just like your instrument panel lights
adjuster next to it.) What you do not have perhaps, if your car is
not fitted with HIDs (high intensity headlamps), is the automatic
levelling system which is a legal requirement when HIDs are fitted
due to the high power of the lights....

if you don't have a self-levelling system then you'll have a manual
system, operated by a knob under the light switch so that you can
adjust to compensate for a heavy load in the rear of the car.

Testimonial: "I did see the little knob on the dash under the headlight switch. i thought it was to dim the dash lights i will check it out and let you know. "

it has nothing to do with the filter, and i don't think it's serious. If the car is holding it's self back? it will be the brakes.

Jaguar glow plug problem

The Glow plug coming on, and the car going into limp home mode, is a default safety feature that occurs when the engine management system picks up any kind error message from the many sensors now used on the car.
I've found the glow plug light problem with my Jag, it was the air filter. Apparently Jaguar servicing change it every 3rd service (not a good idea). I changed mine, it is a new car. I had the EPR valve cleaned and a major diagnostic carried out by a local garage (who had the Jag diagnostic software). It turns out I also need a new Turbo; the actuator is sticking (£759.00 plus 3 hours labour). But hey, the main limp home mode problem is fixed and I can drive my Jag confident it will accelerate when press the gas.

Estate tailgate glass release button

I had the same problem with 2005 estate it used to open when starting the engine but does not unlock at all. The problem is the the sensor on the glass tailgate handle where the wiper arms is. It will cost around £70 from Jagaur themselves as I have just got one.
