Could be that your fan motor is telling you it's about to give up. First check that there are not leaves or other debris that maybe causing the noise. The fan motor is just below the windshield wiper motor assembly. The front cowl and the wiper assembly will need to be removed....tools include a philips, pick, flathead screwdriver and 10mm socket. Take some pics as you remove the front cowl's trim and the heater casing's clips. Not too difficult if you take your time. Motor is about 150 -250 on ebay.
