Yes you got it in one,, its an air lock stoping the water going round the heater, you need to blead the air out rad seal wont block up the heater,,,,iv used it many times,,,my old truck ran with it in for years!
look for a bleed scew on a water pipe and open it with the motor running let water ran out till no air is in it, top up header tank as well

Keep an eye on your water loss. These engines are very prone to water leaks around the inlet manifold seals and top hoses- especially to the rear of the engine. It is rare for core plug leaks to occur on these engines.

Remove transmisstion 2002 2.5 jaguar x type

the best way is to remove the front subframe and the complete engine and transmision as one unit, you have to support the engine/transmission unit on the subframe with wood blocks or similar whn you remove the engine/gearbox mounts and dismantle it on the floor, it is possible to remove the gearbox and leave the engine in place but it is not easy to remove the transfer gearbox for access, this is not a easy job to do unless you have access to a ramp and engine lifting gear, there also some special tools that may be needed to remove the drive shafts, i have done lots of these as i worked for a jaguar dealer for over 20 years you should try to get a workshop manual and follow the procedure in that, it is not really a diy job. hope this helps

Hi, iv got jaguar s type r 2002, could someone tell me how do i bleed air out from heater system, thers no heating in the car. it was all fine before it started leaking engine cooling water, now thats got...

What I do is park the car uphill. Let it cool, open the cap, start it, and let it warm up until coolant flows in the radiator. Add coolant and let the air burp out until there is good flow with no bubbles coming up.

Gearbox fault light and cruise not available

The only thing that will cause a cruise control fault is a loose vacuum hose ussually on the breather hose coming from the valve cover in front to the throttle body. As for the remainder, shut off the car and restart to get you home and avoid the limp home mode. That in itself is an electronic fault in the ground system. Check you coils or replace them with a new set of plugs (autolite double platinum recommendes.) Clean any grounds you may have and then start you engine. You will notice there is no problem then. Run a diagnostic tool to see if there is any fault with grounded sensors like the O2 to keep that from happening again. Don't get the tranny replaced cause thats all the dealership wants to do and charge you $5k. Its not the actual cause. Good luck and let us know if there is anything else we can do here at fixya.

2002 jaguar x type wont start, lights, radio, air have power. clicking sound when turning the key to start the engine. Engine light stays, no engine turnover

Hi .
unlikely to be immobiliser fault ,so check basics, try a set of jump leads or check battery voltage above 12.5,if the clicking is coming from the starter motor with a fully charged battery then suspect starter motor failure.

X-type jaguar automatic (gear box fault)

I have a 2002 X type (2 litre. done 44000 miles), dash showed gear box problem, (red circle light up). I pulled out and turned the engine off. 5 minutes later turned the engine on. The engine running but the car would not drive either in drive or reverse. Turned the engine off again and on the car driving but not much power. The care is taken to the Jag. dealer and told is misfiring + some gear box faults. Suggesting to change some coils and see (cost about £200+). also possible need to change the gear box costing about £2500+. Please advice. Shall I go ahead with the repair? Should I part exchange.
