My taurus has an issue. Whenever I drive over a mile or so my battery light comes on, my mechanic checked this out and says that the alternator is still charging the battery and the battery is new. Could this simply be my light being stupid (car has over 120,000)

It could be a fault in the ECM or a short in the Alternator voltage regulator or short in the alternator itself that isn't persistent. If it only happens after it has been running but not when it is running in the driveway I would look for a short since vibration may be causing the problem. Other than that your only option would be to have the dealer put the vehicle on a machine to identify if the problem is the ECM.

When I'm driving my 2002 Ford Taurus will sometimes hesitate, the thief light on the dash will flash and if my cruise control is on it will go off; what is causing this problem?

If dash lights are popping on and off, and the cruise turns off, then you are experiencing an interruption in power (as if the ignition is turned off and on). You or the mechanic did not specify which fuse blew. That could just be coincidence. Considering you have the battery light, there is a chance you have a charging system problem. The car uses power generated by the alternator when it's running, and switches to battery power if the alternator stops outputting. If the car is using the battery, it will drain and cause power interruptions and ultimately, kills the battery. Check the serpentine belt, clean and inspect battery cables and posts - tighten clamps, get the alternator and battery tested (Autozone will do this for free). I'm thinking bad alternator. The only other thing I can think of is you have a short somewhere in the ignition wiring, or a faulty ignition switch. But the fact that it got progressively worse speaks to the charging issue. If you want to test the charging system yourself, let me know and I'll post a basic procedure.

Drive your car to Auto zone and have them check your alternator, it is a free service, they can tell you if it is bad or not..Check the plug that snaps into the alternator, your wire connections might need to be cleaned. You can clean them with a small fingernail file..I have a taurus and I had that same problem..unplug the connector and file the wire side and the alternator side connection...

94 Ford Taurus Battery light pops on intermittenly usually when turning corners

You have an Alternator or alternator connector issue, have Auto Zone or Kragen test the charging system, it is free, most likely the alt will need to be replaced.
