Key lock cylinder replacement

I just replaced the key lock cylinder in my 1992 oldsmobile eighty eight. Everything looks good but when I try to start the car, it tells me to clean the key and try again after 3 minutes. I think it might be the theft-lock system. Any help?

Try to leave the key on for up to 25 minutes. Some of these cars relearn that way. Then try to start the car. Usually it only takes 10 to15 min but I'm just being safe.

Key programme may need to be reset at a dealer, call your local dealler and explain this, they will no doubt ask you to come in, simply tell them you can't. and ask what alternative soltion can they recommend. Sorry not much help here. Good luck

That is the most likely but first try moving the plug and wire from 3 to 1 and put 1 in 3. See if the fault moves.

usually jump aldl conn term 1 and 4 and hold lock/unlock button til locks cycle
