Check to see if the transmission is stuck in overdrive. Some GM transmissions are notorious for this. What happens is the tranny wont shift out of overdrive or down shift and when you come to a stop it will simply kill the engine (naturally) If it is there is an electronic silenoid valve on the transmission that has a plug attached to it. unplug it and it will run fine (you just wont have overdrive) until you can get it replaced.
"93 chevy lumina, starts good and will run for a little bit and then shuts off. or when i put it into gear it will shut off also. i have replaced the spark plugs,has new filters and used an injector cleaner. i hope you can help me figure out what is wrong with it. thanks

Sounds like a possible ignition problem. When it happens you should immediately try to check for spark. Could be a over heating coil as well.

is the over drive mode on an automatic on when the hold light apears or does this mean it is off?
