Problem : Jeep liberty 2002..... Ignition Key will not turn,
Possible solution: Ignition lock replacement.
Question: Are there any recalls regarding this anywhere? ( i haven't seen any) Secondly, are there any other options besides replacement of ignition key lock?
Most commonly it is the key is worn out. If you have a spare key or your current one is not too badly worn, have a copy of it made and try it in the switch. You will have to have the copy key "coded" so it will disable the anti-theft system in order for the engine to start. If the new key doesn't fix your problem, you will have to replace the tumbler assembly.
With key in the ignition, smack the key with a screwdriver handle or something similar, then it will turn
The ignition key switch is one whole peace it just plugs into the colum its not very exspensive i just replaced mine not long ago.just take the plastic cover off behind the steering wheel . the ignition only has a few screws !
