Jeep liberty 2002.....ignition key lock

Owners manual.. Dealer with he VIN#. Mechanics manual, any parts store. It covers all the Liberty's.

the key fob? or radio remove or what?
remote to what.

the operators manual covers this , under car keys.
the car came with 2 Fobs. lost them both now>?

Duplication of keys may
be performed at an authorized dealer (or locksmiths) or by using the
Customer Key Programming procedure.

DIY, takes 1 key , good, called a valid key, in the below text.
You can program new keys to the system if you have two
valid keys by doing the following:
1. Cut the additional Sentry Key Transponder blank(s) to
match the ignition switch lock cylinder key code.
2. Insert the first valid key into the ignition switch and
turn the ignition switch ON for at least 3 seconds but no
longer than 15 seconds. Turn the ignition switch OFF and
remove the first key.
3. Insert the second valid key and turn the ignition
switch ON within 15 seconds. After ten seconds, a chime
will sound and the SKIS indicator light will begin to
flash. Turn the ignition switch OFF and remove the
second key.
4. Insert a blank Sentry Key into the ignition switch and
turn the ignition switch ON within 60 seconds. After 10
seconds, a single chime will sound. The SKIS indicator
light will stop flashing, turn on for 3 seconds; then turn
off.
The new Sentry Key has been programmed. Repeat this
process to program up to a total of 8 keys.


did i guess right, the Key FOB RKE,
remove key entry fob.?

I had that problem with my 2002 Jeep Liberty and the ignition switch cracked so I had that replaced. I am not sure if that is included in the ignition lock cylinder ...

Possible solution - This happened to me and my battery was dead in my key fob and also I needed an ignition switch because a piece on it was broken which therefore wouldn't turn to start the engine.

this is not normal; but I have several customers who have had this problem for years and they simply ignore it. the solution is a replacement of the ignition cylinder.

graphite is what needs to used on sticky tumblers oils are the worst and causes more problems. you may be able to wiggle the wheel and get the key out. I would put graphite on the new/other key before I inserted into the ignition. Good Luck Tim

ur cylinder lock is going bad...... needs to be replaced

Turn the wheel while turning the key will unlock the wheel wiggle the wheel while turning the key.

put the key in the ignition and tap the key farther into the cylinder and turn. should work. seems like a chrysler problem! a handy tow truck driver showed me this solution last night. you can have the cylinder replaced if this keeps happening or just keep a handy-dandy whacking object in your center console for just such an occassion!

It could be your ignition switch is worn out do you have alot of keys or key rings hanging from your ignition. I have changed many due to this the weight wears them out.
