There should be a 2 pin sensor located in or near to the thermostat housing. This sensor informs the ECU of the engine temp. If faulty it won't choke when cold so it would become difficult to start.

Keep in mind, this is a general diagnosis. Your car may not have the parts we list as potential problems. If you're not sure if your car has a particular part, check your owner's manual, service's manual or visit your mechanical service.

The oil sensor lite is on and the oil gauge is reading zero on the tach we just replaced the crank and rods, the car is hard to start and hasnt ran in a while it has been a project car, when the car does...

you need to find the oil pressure sending unit and wiring that threads into the block and see if its plugged in, if it is, get an oil pressure tester that threads into place of the sender and check for oil pressure.

Hard starting when cold ( engine cranks normally )

see if your engine has a ECT sensor (temp sensor that delivers information to your ECM) they are installed on the intake side of the cylinder head, it usually has 2 cables, have it checked replace if necesary

Torque specs for mighty max

Per my Chilton's manual tehe bolts should be (cold engine) 65 to 72 FT. Pnds., the cam shaft bearing bolts should be 8x25 = 15 - 19 Ft pnds and the 8x65 should be 14 - 15 Ft Pnds.

The sequence is as follows for the (10 ) head bolts:

7 - 5 - 2 - 4 - 10

9 - 3 - 1 - 6 - 8

I hope this may help,
Tom
